SUMMER HEAT SAFETY
Warm weather triggers an urge to be outdoors, but fun or working in the sun can be dangerous when the heat and humidity rise. In addition to sun burn, heat-related illness can spoil summer fun,outdoor work amd send unsuspecting victim to the hospital.
The human body keeps itself cool by allowing heat to escape through the skin and by evaporating the resulting perspiration. But if the body cannot cool itself enough, the person could suffer from heat-related illness. Illnesses caused by overheating, hydrated can become serious or even deady if not treated.
WHO IS AT RISK?
1. Everyone is susceptible to heat-related illness.
2. Senior citizen, especially those alonne in non air condition environment.
3. Infants and children
4. People with medical conditions especially those with heart diseases, high blood, low blood, sinus, ladies etc.
PREVENTION
To help prevent heat-related illness, follow the safety precautions :
1. Avoid strenuous outdoor activities. When possible, reserve outdoor activities for the cooler morning and evening hours.
2. Wear loose-fitting, light-colored clothing, Also apply sun burn and wear hat.
3. Stay hydrated (drink lot of water), avoid alcoholic and caffeinated beverages.
4. Eat smaller meals more frequently.
5.Car temperature can rise from 78 degrees to 100 degrees in just few minutes under the sun. E.g monitor car and people that are in risk or vulnerable.

SYMPTOMS AND TREATMENT
Heat-related illness is cumulative. If you experience symptoms, admister or seek treatment immediately.
1. HEAT CRAMPS: Painful muscle cramps and spasms, usually in the legs and stomach.
TREATMENT : Slowly rehydrate and stretch muscle.
2. HEAT EXHAUSTION : Cool, moist, pale, flushed or Red skin, headache, dizziness, weakness, exhaustion and nausea or vomiting.
TREATMENT : Rest in cool place, loosen clothing, apply wet cloths to skin and rehydrate slowly. Call 999 if thr victim comits, refuses water or loses consciousness.
3. HEAT STROKE/SUN STROKE: Hot, red and dry skin, decreased alertness or unconsciousness ;weak high temperature.
TREATMENT : CALL 999, Apply wet cloths to the skin and ice pads to the wrists, ankles underarms and neck.
REMEMBER ITS CAN BE DONE ONLY BY FIRST AIDER.
KEEP DRINKING WATER OR FRUIT AND OBSERVE URINE.

Important of safety line or your lanyard while in height. The lanyard or safety line is designed to connect your full body harness to an anchoring point and it guarantees your safety.
If the work area is not entirely secured with collective fall protection equipment preventing any falls, a complete fall arrest system including a full body harness must be used. The system used must be compatible with the established clearance and movement limits of the designated User.

Important recommendations
Under no circumstances should the length of the lanyard(safety line) be modified by adding or
removing any part.
BEFORE each use : thorough visual inspection of the seams, strap, buckles and additional equipment. Everything mus be in perfect condition.
