On September 21st, the 14th Market Update Session was held in Dubai for CEO’s, CMO’s, CFO’s, and other senior executives from GCC smelters and major aluminium downstream. This annual meeting is exclusive to GAC members and covers topics related to the aluminium industry regionally and internationally.

The GCC's primary production in 2022 reached more than 6. 5 million tons and is expected to be higher this year. There has yet to be an immediate plan for new plants or firm decisions on expanding existing ones. Four of the Six smelters produce one million tonnes a year or more.
Two EGA smelters in the UAE produce more than 2.6 million tons annually.
Alba or Alumnium Bahrain production is just over 1,6 million tons a year.
Maaden in Saudi Arabia's production is around one million tons a year.
Qatalum in Qatar is just under 700,000 tons a year, and Sohar in Oman around 400,000 tons a year.
The Aluminium industry of the GCC represents around 10% of the world output of primary metal.
