Guest checkout: let them buy before asking them to join.

Nearly one in five shoppers abandon checkout when they are forced to create an account. The timing is the problem: they have already chosen the product, accepted the price, and started paying, then the store introduces another decision.

Make guest checkout obvious, allow existing emails to continue without forced login, and move optional account creation to the order-confirmation step.

Get the order first. Ask for the account second.

Clicks but no sales: is it your traffic or your offer?

Clicks without sales do not automatically mean your ads are bad or that your store is broken.

Compare paid traffic with warm, direct, or organic visitors on the same offer.

If paid traffic fails while warmer visitors buy, investigate audience intent, the ad promise, placement, and message match.

If every source struggles, inspect the offer: value, price, proof, shipping, and checkout.

Fix the side the comparison identifies, not the side you guessed.

Your ad promised. Your landing page broke it.

Every ad click arrives with an expectation. Compare the promise in your ad with the first screen of the landing page: the product, offer, benefit, price, and next step should feel continuous.

When they do not match, the visitor spends the first three seconds wondering if they clicked the wrong link, and a small mismatch turns into real doubt.

Run the three-second test before buying more traffic: what was promised, where do I get it, is this the same offer? Fix the first screen first.

The second order is where the relationship starts.

Most customers are not leaving you. You just never asked them to come back. The first order is delivered, the store goes quiet, and no follow-up is ever scheduled.

Fix that with a simple system:

Deliver value, then confirm they are happy before you sell anything.
Find the natural return moment: replenish, replace, complement, or the next step up.
Do not ask too early. A discount the day the parcel lands is a stranger asking for a second date.
Make coming back easy: buy it again, saved size, a prefilled cart.
Match the message to what they bought, instead of sending everyone the same follow-up.

First order is interest. Second order is a relationship. Give them a reason, and an easy way, to come back.

A redesign can make your store look different without making it perform better.

Before changing colors, fonts, navigation and layouts all at once, find the exact point where the buying journey breaks. Check traffic quality, message match, the offer, shipping surprises, trust signals, mobile performance and checkout friction.

Then test the smallest proven fix.

Redesign when the evidence shows a system wide problem, not because performance feels frustrating.

Diagnose first. Change only what the evidence earns.

The EU surprise fee: a €3 charge can cost more than €3.

Since 1 July 2026, qualifying distance-sale imports into the EU worth up to €150 can carry a temporary €3 customs duty per customs item.

One parcel may contain multiple customs item lines, so the duty can multiply. And IOSS does not automatically remove it: IOSS manages VAT, while this is customs duty.

The operational question is not only whether the fee exists. It is who pays it, when they see it, and whether your customer understood it before completing the order.

Audit your EU delivery path:
• Where does the parcel ship from?
• Is its intrinsic value €150 or less?
• How many customs item lines are declared?
• Who acts as declarant?
• Who pays the duty?
• Can the customer be charged at delivery?

The fee may be small. The trust damage from a doorstep surprise is not.

The checkout field tax: every extra question costs attention.

Every unnecessary checkout field asks the customer to spend more time, effort and patience.

The problem is rarely one impossible task. It is a stack of small demands: another field, repeated information, an unexplained requirement, or an error message that tells them nothing.

Audit your checkout on mobile.

Ask whether every field is genuinely needed to fulfil the order. Use autofill wherever possible. Hide fields until they become relevant. Label optional information clearly. Make every error explain exactly how to fix it.

The best checkout collects enough information to complete the sale, and nothing that needlessly threatens it.

The 70% truth about cart abandonment.

About 7 in 10 online shopping carts are abandoned. That sounds alarming, until you realize a cart is often a planning space, not a promise to buy.

The useful question is not "how do we force abandonment to zero?" It is "where does our store lose more buyers than it should?"

Separate cart abandonment from checkout abandonment. Then segment the drop by device, traffic source, customer type, product, country, and checkout step. Fix the recoverable friction first: surprise costs, unclear delivery dates, forced accounts, weak payment options, discount-code distractions, and errors.

The benchmark is context, not a target. Investigate the abnormal drop, not the normal behavior.

Pick your AOV lever: match the offer to the customer.

Bundles, upsells and free-shipping thresholds are not interchangeable. Start with how your customers already buy.

Complementary products suggest a bundle. A genuinely better-fit version suggests an upsell. Carts near a reachable, profitable shipping threshold suggest a free-shipping test.

Choose one strong hypothesis and compare it with your current experience. Watch conversion, contribution per visitor, returns and cancellations alongside AOV. Bigger baskets are only useful when the business performs better too.

Match the lever to the customer, not the customer to the lever.

The AI trust gap: recommendations do not complete purchases.

Accepting a recommendation is not the same as authorising a purchase. AI can help a shopper choose. Your store still has to earn their confidence.

Does your product page confirm the exact item, variant, features, current price and availability?
Can they inspect real product evidence?
Are delivery, returns and support easy to understand?
Can they review the full order and explicitly approve payment?

A confident answer is not a completed sale.

Follow one AI recommendation to your store today. Audit the handoff from recommendation to product page to payment.

Close the trust gap, not just the traffic gap.

No jargon. No hype.
