I grew up in a place where seagulls were simply part of everyday life. You couldn’t get to downtown without taking a water ferry that carried both people and cars, and the moment it sailed off, you’d see the seagulls flying above it every single day.
They were with me during my school years, and after graduation they were there at work too. Even on nights out or casual outings, they were always flying over my beautiful city, Port Said.
One of the most interesting things I learned about seagulls is that they can drink salt water and live in large groups.
This video is from Ras Al Khaimah in the UAE, but my original hometown is Port Said, Egypt — and the lovely thing is that the seagulls are still with me, even when I travel.
