A factor is an element, an agent, or a force that contributes to a result. And like in math, it can multiply or divide it.
That’s why a thorough evaluation of the influence it can have on a company's activities must be conducted.
Both internal factors, such as its capacity for innovation or the quality of its human resources, and external indicators such as, financial, demographic, or otherwise, must be taken into account to allow the business to be in a permanent mode of alert and be ready to change and adaptation to the transformations of the outside world.
🚨 African markets have been known for their high political and geopolitical risk, rapid population growth, poor infrastructure and human capital, and absence of know-how.
🚨 This frame of reference established by the global management consulting firms is what justifies the North-South strategic culture that creates unskilled jobs, often in shortage in the countries of origin of the investment, with a transfer of essentially technical or practical and operational skills, that don’t require specific training to be performed.
🚀 Because the purpose of labeling certain markets as "high risk" markets, is to keep the investment at its minimum to inflate the investor’s performance.
🚨 Therefore, income will be precarious, barely sufficient to cover basic needs, but enough to purchase low-quality mass imported products... leading to low-income households within vulnerable livelihood systems, economic stagnation and social difficulties.
🚀 The know-how will come with the capital and will remain held by the investor in the person of the expatriate, resulting in a social relationship based on hierarchy of qualifications between expatriates and the local workforce, perceived over time... as a natural state of affairs.
🛠 But what if Africa changed its angle? What if we opposed these PESTLEs with our own? at least for those factors in our power to change!
