Did you hear the youngest social app on the block, Clubhouse FINALLY released an Android version of the app? Last week they were sitting at 1 Million Android users.... this week? 2 Million! That’s 1,000,000 new subscribers in a week and considering the only way onto the app is via an invite this is seriously impressive.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

On that note, they’re apparently going to drop the ‘invite only’ signups sometime over the next 3 months and make it public, however for the moment the only way to create a new account is via an invite. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Google is keeping up with the times and the fact is in 2021, there's a lot of businesses that function without the need for a public phone number. With helpdesks, email support and chat boxes there's an increasing number of businesses who just don't need a phone number to be included as part of their digital identity. Recognising this, Google has recently started to roll out a change to Google MyBusiness accounts where the choice to show the business's phone number on the account is now optional! A pretty significant change! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Wow. We warned they’d disappear quickly when the applications opened but even we were surprised yesterday when THREE HOURS IN - the grant applications were completely exhausted. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
We’re so grateful to the Queensland Government for these grants, they’re brilliant and can make a great impact for so many businesses. The fact that we saw the applications exhausted so quickly today just goes to show how many businesses would love a helping hand right now.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Did you know if you are running advertising campaigns on Facebook and you DON’T have a privacy policy/disclaimer on your website - you could be being penalised by Facebook and actually paying MORE for your ads? True story. Facebook take privacy pretty seriously these days, especially after Zuck’s adventures in the Courts over the past few years. If you are pushing traffic to a landing page with the end goal of a form submission, you absolutely need to have a privacy policy/disclaimer on your site.

Dear Facebook Australia,

Cheers for killing the press on your platform. Who needs free speech anyway? Let’s monetize everything. Let’s create a world where only people with money are important enough to be heard.

While we’re here, good work on also removing the ability for The Bureau of Meteorology to publish earlier today. The Australian population doesn’t need access to important weather events happening after all.

Who else did you block today?
- Queensland Health (I’m mean, we’re only in a pandemic, who needs access to the latest health info for our State)
- 1800 RESPECT (where people go for support for domestic abuse and so much more – we really have no words for this other than )

What’s next? Banning agendas that don’t align with your own? Maybe only allowing political views that support yours? Can we say the word ‘CENSORSHIP’ or shall we too be banned?

Facebook is meant to bring people together. To bridge the gap. To allow freedom to information, support and communities.

Facebook is where people GO to get news.

What happens next?

Facebook users drop? People start going to search for their news off your platform.
