We had the privilege of participating in The Lakes College Tech Fest yesterday, and what an incredible experience it was.

From QR code treasure hunts and interactive robotics demonstrations featuring robot dogs and robots, to our Create a Moon City application where young coders designed habitats, robotic helpers, and imaginative lunar communities, the day was filled with creativity, innovation, and fun.

What stood out most was the curiosity, enthusiasm, and adaptability of these young technology enthusiasts. Their willingness to explore new ideas and the remarkable creations they produced were truly inspiring. It was a privilege to witness their creativity firsthand and to be part of such a welcoming, growth-minded community.

Adding to the excitement were the fabulous lucky door prizes, which kept the energy high throughout the event. And a special mention to the talented student chefs - your delicious nachos were a crowd favourite!

Thank you to The Lakes College for hosting such a fantastic event and for fostering an environment where innovation, learning, and curiosity can thrive. We left buzzing with excitement and inspired by the next generation of creators, problem-solvers, and innovators.

We can’t wait to do it all again at next year’s Tech Fest!"

Most KPIs are set with the right intent.

They’re meant to focus effort, create accountability, and help teams make better decisions.
And early on, they usually do.
But over time, something subtle can shift.

The numbers keep improving.
Targets are being met.
Performance looks strong.

And yet… the outcomes don’t always feel quite right.

KPI conversations don’t usually become tense overnight.

They evolve.

As organisations grow, discussions that were once straightforward often become slower, more careful, and at times more defensive. More context is required. Alignment takes longer. Decisions that once followed naturally from the numbers begin to require more interpretation.

This is rarely about disagreement on the surface.

More often, it signals something deeper, a shift in how accountability, ownership, and expectations are understood across the organisation.

We attended the Fuel Crisis & Business Impact Briefing yesterday organised by Greater Caboolture Chamber of Commerce - and the key messages are worth sharing.

Thanks to Business Chamber Queensland for outlining the current situation, government response, and impacts being felt by businesses across the state.

Key takeaways:
• Cost increases of 11–50% are putting significant pressure on margins
• Businesses are adjusting pricing, delaying work, and rethinking operations
• Workforce challenges are emerging, with transport costs impacting staff availability
• Supply chains are tightening, with potential food shortages and further price increases ahead
• Fixed-price contracts are creating additional risk for many businesses

Most leadership teams don’t lose confidence in their KPIs overnight.

The dashboards still load.
The numbers still move.
The reports still go to the board.

But decisions start to lean more on judgement than on the metrics in front of them.

That’s usually the first signal that KPIs are no longer answering the questions leaders are actually asking.
