Hello everyone! 💞

In short, I’m saying a partial goodbye to Epitome.

I want to start by saying thank you for following my journey these past years. The community that I’ve been so lucky to cultivate here has meant so much to me and I’ve enjoyed getting to know so many of you as well as getting to play a meaningful role in so many businesses along the way. You may know that since the beginning of this year I’ve been dealing with some major health troubles that has made me shift my perspective and priorities. After taking a step back for a few months and limiting my work hours and operations this year (plus a lottt of consideration), I’ve decided to take a more formal hiatus from Epitome by Allanah. While this is a sad (for now) goodbye, I am excited to open a new chapter of my life and explore some ventures that will allow me to continue to grow whilst continuing to look after my health. I hope to connect with you all again one day and if it aligns, come back with a fresh perspective and additional expertise (I’ll always believe growth is a continuous journey). I’ll still log in every now and then to see how you guys are going and maybe drop in to say a little hello so this isn’t a total goodbye! A special thank you also to my past clients who have continued to refer friends, family and customers to me. If you have an urgent enquiry, please email [email protected].

I appreciate you all and can’t wait to continue to follow your journeys (just from a bit of a distance now) ❤️💌

If you feel like you’re blending in, these are a few reasons you might be...

Think about it like this:

Some of the earliest influencers that are still around today grew their following rapidly in their niche because they were some of the first to do so.

They were some of the first to establish their presence in their niche when not a lot of people were doing it.

Now, there are influencers everywhere you look, even in the most niche of categories (hello, even me a branding specialist for business names!). Being an influencer is even considered a dream job now.

Similar can be said for BRANDS. It’s easier than ever to set up an online business and try to reach a global audience. New businesses are being started every day.

Don’t let this discourage you, I’m just saying this as a reminder to DIFFERENTIATE. To take advantage of your brand’s unique factors.

If you need help establishing a strategic business name that will differentiate your brand and resonate with your audience, or implementing a differentiating strategy that’ll wow your dream customers, send me a DM.

A brand that truly resonates with its target audience will...

MAKE SURE THEIR BRAND NAME REFLECTS THEM.

Speak your audience’s language. Communicate that you’re FOR THEM & that you really do get them.

It pays off to invest time into making sure your target audience can truly identify with your brand.

It trickles into so much more than just if they buy from you or not (brand loyalty, turning your tribe into avid brand ambassadors — I could go onnn).

If you’re having trouble articulating your message into an effective brand name that truly speaks your audience’s language, slide into my DMs and lets talk name development 🪄

I can’t wait to get you one step closer to the epitome of your dream brand.

Box ticking blends in, but standing out starts with embracing your brand’s uniqueness.

YOU might know & think that your brand is unique. But… This is your reminder that this doesn’t necessarily mean your audience does.

Clearly define what makes your brand unique AND REFLECT THAT. (The second part is what seems to be missing a lot of the time lately!).

A common theme I’ve seen is that clients either don’t yet know what makes their brand unique, or they know what makes it unique and are unsure of how to translate that into their branding.

It’s important to reflect your uniqueness in your branding, including your business, blog or podcast name (and even your product names).

After all, if you’re saying you’re unique but not reflecting that — there isn’t much of a point in defining your unique factor in the first place.

Not going to lie, sounding like another brand in your industry is a bit of an ick…

It screams a lack of creativity, distinction and authenticity. In turn, it also cheapens your brand.

Think about how you feel when you see a blatant copy of another brand’s original work. It’s something you often see for a cheaper price and associate it with second best, or trying hard to just piggyback off another idea.

Think about what makes your brand distinct. Don’t be afraid to embrace the unique personality that you could bring to your industry. You’re so much more likely to attract the right people YOU WANT by doing so.

I get it. It can be hard to translate your unique qualities into one name that you’re going to use for (hopefully!) a long time.

You’ve got a blank space and I’ll write your name 😉 (IYKYK)

If you want a business name that:

💫 Aligns with your brand core

💫 Evokes and instills the message you want it to (and make sure the message is intentional)

💫 Allows your business to expand and grow

💫 Differentiates your brand and attracts your target market

I’d love to play business name matchmaker and help you find your perfect fit.

I develop names that are both sexy & STRATEGIC (just take a look at the link in bio or my “client love” highlight! 😉).

I believe in the power of intentional communication and leveraging language and psychology to your brand’s advantage ⚡️

I’m open to new enquiries! If you want to take a look at some of the brands I’ve worked on, follow the link in bio 💌

I can’t wait to see what the rest of this year brings for you 💫

Roadblocks should only be feared if you let them determine the outcome.

When naming your business, roadblocks can feel discouraging. Especially when you just want to launch your brand and start getting yourself out there!

Why not use such challenges to practice determination and persistence? Because guess what — roadblocks are going to happen, it’s all part of the journey.

I will though, help you out with these three tips for finding your way around business name roadblocks you may come across when branding your business. 💫

What’s a roadblock you’ve experienced recently? 👇🏼

If I’m being real, a roadblock I’ve been facing at the moment is learning to balance my current projects with some personal health stuff going on. I’m learning to appreciate the process and recognising my own needs + taking a step back when I need to. 🤍

Let me tell you… Plain pushes away.

If you’re thinking of choosing a name that’s overly clear (and maybe generic) this is for you…

Maybe you’re afraid that choosing a more unique, creative name will cause confusion in what you sell.

But, doing so may make you miss out on communicating distinct brand features of what you have to offer.

You can still associate your name with what you have to sell in language choice and name style, but if you’re choosing a name that’s overly plain you’re selling your brand short and setting yourself up for regret later down the line.

You want a name that stands out, sparks curiosity, and connects with your customers on a deeper level. It should convey what makes you special. It could be a name that your audience loves to associate with, or it could be one they don’t want to touch.

Impact how you perceive, impact how you sell ⚡️👇🏼

It’s easier than ever to start your own business and there are SO many new brands coming up every single day.

Use your business name to your advantage. Use it with intention to position your brand for success. You want to make sure you’re resonating with your dream customer, being memorable and distinct from competitors.

YOU CAN set your brand up to have a cult following and have a name that serves a purpose. Doesn’t that sound exciting? 🙌🏼

Send this to someone who needs it or is underestimating the power brand positioning 💌 (they’ll thank you later! 😉).

Stop looking for “signs” to give up.

It’s a common theme I see in those starting a business: almost giving up on starting a business after not being able to find a name that truly aligns with their brand or represents it how they want it.

Spending days that turn to weeks, trying to come up with a name that captures the essence of your business can be understandably frustrating!

Settling for a name that is almost ‘embarrassing’ to say shouldn’t be an option so no wonder it feels like such a setback.

Feeling stuck is NOT a sign that you should STOP.

The dream you have for starting a business is there for a reason. If it keeps calling for you, it’s probably because it wants you to explore it. To finally take action towards it.

It might just mean you need to widen your perspective, gain inspiration elsewhere or seek guidance from someone who gets it. Whatever that might look like — keep your “why” in mind to keep you going ❤️‍🔥

I want to set you up with your true soulmate version of a business name & one you’re ready to scream from the rooftops because it’s that good (and strategic!). Visit the link in bio and let’s transform the epitome of your vision into a thriving reality 🪄💫

From being perceived as cheap and confusing, availability issues that led to a PR nightmare with a Twitter account with the same name tweeting explicit content, Qwikster turned into a quick nightmare 😅

There’s so much to learn from Netflix’s branding mistake (regardless of it being a poor business decision overall).

It’s good that Netflix recongised their mistake early on and changed it, though making a poor branding decision can definitely stick with your audience and how they perceive your brand.

I’m not saying this to scare you, but to see this as an opportunity to leverage your branding decisions so that your potential customers ADMIRE & envy your brand, not question it. Your brand is your business’s personality - make sure it’s one that your audience will love.

What if I told you that one initial impression can influence how your entire brand is perceived?

The halo effect is responsible for this tendency… This might sound familiar if you’ve ever taken psych in school or are a nerd for psychology books 🤓

Think about how you’ve positively appraised a product or brand because of its packaging. Or, coming into contact with two new brands at a store and choosing one brand over the other because of something as simple as its brand visuals.

Playing into this bias/tendency makes sense as it allows us to reduce our cognitive load and prevents us from the uncomfortability of holding two conflicting ideals about a certain subject.

It might sound overly technical, but thinking about how you can leverage this aspect can give you such power when making brand choices. Remember, the reverse can happen: negatively appraising something based on one negative experience or association.

Drop a 🤓 below if you’re ready to leverage the power of psychological aspects of branding and marketing. I know I’m a sucker for it 🙌🏼❤️‍🔥

Here’s your gateway to an aligned March ⚡️

Get intentional about how you approach each month. You’ll feel so much more accomplished by the end of it when you reflect on how far you’ve come and where you measure up to on the intentions you set.

Even if (worst-case scenario) you fall short on the goals you set, at least you made some steps towards it. You’re falling forward.

Keep yourself accountable — save or send to a friend (don’t gatekeep this gateway!) 🤍
