I've been spending a fair amount of time doing the things that make me happy: helping my clients achieve their goals, spending quality time with my family and a whole lot of laughing.

NAIDOC Week has always held a special place in my heart 🖤💛❤️💙💚🤍🖤

It’s the yearly recognition of the power of people, the power of voice and the power of change. 50 Years ago of Deadly celebrates the start of a week of celebrations for culture and equality, led by a collection of brave Elders, Aunties and Uncles. Their determination, spirit and strength paved the way for the right to have a say in government, healthcare, housing, education, social support and basic entitlements we take for granted today.

I feel privileged to have lived a life where I have travelled throughout Australia. I’ve seen country and communities that many do not know exist and feel most at home with red dirt between my toes and dusty air in my lungs. I carry the teachings of every community with me and share their knowledge with my kids.

This week fate brought me the closest to home I have been in a long time. I’ve been fortunate to spend a few days on Larrakia Country and I’ve been able to reconnect my soul to the land. I met some inspiring people and their love of community and culture has left me feeling alive and recharged. They are living proof that the NAIDOC spirit lives on and should never be forgotten or taken for granted.

It’s never too late to get involved and celebrate with your community, to step out of your comfort zone, and have a yarn with some inspiring people. I encourage everyone to visit www.naidoc.org.au to find an event local to them.
