Precision Scanning for Custom Isuzu Bonnet Mods Series - Part 2
In this second video of my Isuzu 4x4 custom build series, I walk through my full workflow for scanning the bonnet and the behind‑bonnet geometry to prepare for a precision‑fit custom part. This stage is critical because the new component will be plastic instead of metal, which means the tolerances need to be tighter and the fitment needs to be absolutely clean.
Using the EINSTAR Rockit, I captured the bonnet surface, the internal structure, and the surrounding geometry to ensure the final design sits perfectly on the truck without gaps, stress points, or alignment issues.
In this video I cover:
My scanning workflow for bonnet panels
Techniques for scanning behind‑bonnet geometry for accurate fitment
Considerations when designing plastic replacement parts
How this scan connects to the broader custom build series
This project is part of a multi‑stage customisation for a client, and the bonnet is just one of the major components being redesigned.
More updates coming soon as I move into modelling, prototyping, and final fabrication.
