The Business Connect program is coming back in some form & you have the chance to have your say in what support you would want to have available in the new program.

Please take a few minutes to complete the survey and/or make a submission.

Support for small business is critical for their success and so needed at the moment. I look forward to the new program and will be doing the survey and making a submission as a Business owner and from my experience as a Business Connect Advisor for 5 years up until that ended in 2025 and know how valuable the previous program was.

You have your business plan done, you have set your goals for the year, now who do you need to get in front of to achieve these?

You want to define your ideal target markets and create your Client Avatar (Ideal Client Profile, or a Buyer Persona).

As the saying goes…? If you try to speak to everyone, you end up speaking to no-one”.

It's important that you clearly define your core target markets so that you understand their painpoints, issues and concerns. Then you can clearly show in your marketing, on your socials and website content all the ways that you can help solve these problems.

It's important to:

🎯Know who your ideal customer is

🎯Know where they are hanging out

🎯Know what their biggest challenges are

If you have more than one target customer, profile them all separately because the way you speak to each demographic will be a little different.

💡Once you have identified your target markets and their pain points, then the rest of your marketing and content creation comes from this. You want to let people know:

❓What services/products you offer to help solve their main problems/pain points?

❓What benefits your services/products provide to your clients? Not so much about the features but what will make their life better/easier and how will they feel after using your services/products.

❓Why working with you or buying your products is the right decision for your target markets, what makes you different to your competitors?

❓The answers to all of the FAQ's you know clients ask you regularly.

Do you have your target markets clearly identified?

Does your website copy and social media posts tell your ideal clients how you can help them?

Business goals set ✔️

Now it’s time to turn those goals into a clear plan.

The start of a new business year is the perfect time to move from ideas to action without the chaos. A simple strategy can help you feel focused, organised, and confident about what comes next.

You might be working on things like:

🟥 Refining or creating new offers and packages

🟥 Reviewing pricing to support growth

🟥 Planning your first marketing campaigns

🟥 Updating your website with new offers, pricing, or testimonials

🟥 Locking in networking events and key dates

🟥 Exploring collaboration or alliance opportunities

You don’t need to do everything at once, but you do need to make a start. One thing at a time, step by step and start with your key priorities that will make the biggest impact.

What’s the first thing you’re working on to kick-start your business year?

Are you into setting goals, either personal or in your business? Have you set your business goals for this year?

Now is a perfect time to reflect back on the past year and look at what worked and what could be tweaked a little to get you where you want to be.

If you’re looking for different and/or better results in your business this year, will you be making some changes or adding new systems, processes, products or services?

Planning ahead is the key to an organised and successful year. Setting goals and the milestones needed to reach them becomes your strategic plan for business improvement and growth.

You don’t need to overcomplicate your business plan. Having a simple plan in place is far better than having no plan at all.

NOW is the time to get your business plan together and set yourself up for a successful year ahead.

January is the ideal time to tackle business planning, to get clear on what you want to achieve and where you want to take your business over the coming year.

If you’ve never created a business plan, or it’s been a while since you last looked at one you created years ago, now is the perfect opportunity to capture your goals and direction in one place.

Putting your plans down on paper makes them real. It also gives you something to revisit and measure your progress against throughout the year. Your business plan is a guide — and it’s absolutely okay to review, adjust, and pivot as circumstances change along the way.

We’re all busy, and it’s easy to overcomplicate things. That’s exactly why this Simple Business Plan is the starting point of the Your Business Helper (YBH) Keep It Super Simple (K.I.S.S.) 💋 Business Planning series. These templates are designed to help you put the essential pieces in place for effective business planning — without the stress.

The Keep It Super Simple approach makes planning more achievable, which means you’re far more likely to actually get it done ✔️

Admin task #1 for the year:
Update the copyright date on your website.

Your website copyright confirms ownership of your original content, including written copy and images you’ve created. It’s a small detail, but an important one.

A copyright notice usually includes up to four elements:
✅ the copyright symbol ©
✅ the current year (or a date range from when your site was created)
✅ your name, business name, or website name
✅ a short rights statement

Most businesses keep it simple with something like:
Copyright © 2026 Your Business Name
You may also see “All Rights Reserved” added.

If your website doesn’t currently show copyright details, it’s a good idea to add this as soon as possible. This is typically placed in the website footer. If you’re not sure how to update it, your web designer can help.

Need a hand with this—or any other website or business admin tasks? Just let me know 😊
