This morning I found myself thinking about how much of my life today once existed only as an idea.

A few years ago, when I joined that very first cohort of Katie's business program, I remember sharing my vision for the future. I wanted more freedom. I wanted to create a life that felt aligned with my values and gave our family more choice about how and where we lived.

At the time, those dreams felt very far away.

What I didn't realise then was that none of those things would happen because of one perfect launch, one clever marketing strategy or one breakthrough moment.

They happened because I kept showing up.

I invested in support.

I learned new skills.

I launched things before they felt perfect.

I made mistakes.

I refined.

I kept going.

And here we are today, living off-grid on 300 acres, buying my first horse and building that life I only once dared to dream of.

As Katie and I welcome women into this year's Yoga Business Accelerator, we can't help but wonder where they'll be by Christmas.

Will they still be thinking about that retreat they've wanted to run for years?

One of the biggest myths in the yoga and wellness world is that you need another idea or modality before you can grow your business.

I sat down with Chloe recently to chat about her experience inside the Creative Marketing Mastermind so far and honestly, I got off the call feeling so excited for her.

I first worked with Chloe inside the Shakti Roadmap, and then she joined the mastermind in December last year. Since then, I’ve watched her business really start to grow, but more than that, I’ve watched her grow.

At the time of launching her free podcast, Chloe had less than 900 followers on Instagram and a very small email list. She thought maybe 30 women would sign up.

Over 190 did.

She’s also seen more consistent bookings in her clinic, more confidence in herself, and a real steadiness in the way she’s showing up now.

And listening to her speak about it all, what really stood out to me was that it came from her deciding to stop treating her business like a thing she’d squeeze into the leftover pockets of her life.

She spoke about recording podcast episodes after her kids went to sleep because it was the quietest time in the house. About making the time because it mattered to her. About finally holding her work as real work and not just a hobby or something she’d “get to when she could”.

Isn’t it ironic that as yoga teachers and embodiment facilitators we’re teaching people how to regulate their nervous systems and manage stress but often feeling quite overwhelmed ourselves? Usually we’ve come to this work to heal ourselves and of course healing is always a work in progress which is why overwhelm is rarely a sign that you’re doing something wrong.

More often, it’s a sign that you’re doing too much without enough structure.

We see this constantly with yoga teachers: capable, thoughtful women who care deeply about their work but feel scattered, behind, or anxious because everything lives in their head. Ideas, to-dos, half-formed plans, responsibilities, are all competing for attention.
When things feel like this many of us just push harder. We try and be more disciplined or more focused. We try to get ultra productive and at worst we get annoyed with ourselves and really start self-blaming (the patriarchy is good at reinforcing this too).

But overwhelm doesn’t respond well to force, what it responds to is clarity.

Clarity about what your next best step might be.
Clarity about what can wait.
Clarity about how your work actually fits together.

When that clarity arrives decisions become easier and energy returns. You stop feeling like you’re constantly chasing your own tail.

Instagram is such a funny place. Equally inspiring and horrifying because it’s easy to look at other yoga teachers (or just other women in general) and assume they have something you don’t. And of course we know that what is shown here isn’t always what’s really going on behind the scenes (these days even the behind the scenes stuff is curated!).

We hear this so often: “I love what they’ve created, but I could never do that.”

But, when we look more closely, the difference is not usually that some women have more talent or even confidence. The missing piece is usually structure and guidance (with a bit of childcare thrown in). Someone helping you see clearly what you already have, and how to work with it.
