So many of the women I work with tell me they never know what to post.

Yet when we’re talking together, they’re full of ideas. They have strong opinions about the way yoga is taught, stories from their own lives, insights from their students and years of knowledge they could be sharing.

The content is already there. Sometimes they just need the right question to help them find it.

These are the kinds of prompts I use with my clients to help them move beyond generic educational posts and begin creating content that actually sounds like them.

It's time to get good at creating great content because it helps people understand your approach, builds trust in your work and gives future students a reason to stay connected with you. Used well, it can also lead people towards your classes, free offerings and paid programs without every post feeling like a sales pitch.

I love me a trend, I especially love the sans serif and butter yellow text overlay trend, however I also have my reservations about it and other trends, like "It's Chic..." - and it's simple... when you jump on the band wagon your posts run the risk lose their uniquness and you melt into the sea of sameness in the feed.

I don't know about you but I want to stand out, I want my community to know me for what I stand for, my unique wisdom, perspective and what I can bring to the table, here and in my yoga business .

Now I'm not saying don't jump on a trend if you love it or want to have a little fun, but maybe you could put your own spin on it, how can you join in but still be you?

For as long as humans have gathered together, we've shared stories. It's how we've passed down wisdom, made sense of our experiences and understood one another. There's something so special in remembering this as we build businesses that are here to serve people.

Our stories become a thread through our work, carrying our perspective, our lived wisdom and all the experiences that have shaped the way we teach, lead and serve.

I've taught my process of mining the gold from your everyday stories for years inside my Shakti Roadmap and Mastermind, and it is consistently one of the most loved workshops we do.

What I love most is that we can come back and do it again six months later and uncover completely different gold. There is always another conversation you've had, something a client said, a lesson you've learnt, an opinion you've changed, a book that's made you think, an ordinary moment that suddenly showed you something differently.

Over time, this can become a beautiful creative practice in your business. Something you return to when you sit down to write and feel stuck, when you're tired of sounding generic, or when you're halfway through a launch and realise you've been talking about the features of your offer for two weeks and want to say something that actually means something.

Sometimes I think I’m Carrie Bradshaw 😂

Give me a good story, a blank page and something to say, and I’m very happy. Writing has become one of my favourite parts of running a business, and I absolutely love showing yoga teachers, wellness practitioners and heart-led business owners that they can fall in love with it too.

Because some of your best content is sitting inside the life you’re already living.

It’s in the conversation you had with a student after class, something you realised in the car, the book you can’t stop thinking about, a mistake you made or the experience that shaped the work you now share with others.

I call it content gold 🔑

And once you know how to recognise it, you stop constantly searching for something to post and start seeing ideas everywhere.

There was a time when marketing felt surprisingly simple.

You'd meet someone at a class, a workshop or a market, have a conversation, and if your work resonated, they'd come back. They'd tell a friend. A relationship would begin.

Now we're expected to build those same relationships through a screen.

It's no wonder so many heart-led business owners feel overwhelmed by the pressure to constantly create content.

But what if the answer isn't creating more?

What if it's learning to share more of you?

Not every detail of your life, but the moments that have shaped your work, your values and the way you serve the people who find you.

Because people don't connect with perfect marketing.

They connect with honesty.

If you asked me what I would do to become a better writer for my business, I probably wouldn't tell you to spend more time studying copywriting or reading this book or that. And I definitely wouldn't tell you to save another hundred Instagram posts or spend your afternoon prompting ChatGPT.

I'd tell you to just write. Now I know this is easier said than done, but is it?

One of the first things I notice when people come into my world is how disconnected they've become from their own ideas. They've spent so much time consuming everybody else's content that they've forgotten what it feels like to sit with a blank page and discover what they think.

When someone tells me they don't know what to post or they have no idea what to write in their emails, I rarely suggest a marketing strategy first. Instead, I encourage them to step away from the noise. And meditate.

Light a candle, make a cup of tea, sit quietly for a few moments and allow the mind to settle. (luckily I work with spiritual people.)

Then begin.

Write about the colour red.

Write about the jacaranda tree outside your window.

Write about your grandmother's kitchen.

Write about an awkward conversation you had this week.

Write about somebody you miss.

It doesn't really matter where you begin, the practice is simply to keep going.

Keep the pen moving across the page. (or your fingers on the keyboard) Follow the thread wherever it wants to take you... this is stream of conscious writing.

Something interesting happens when we stop trying to create content and simply allow ourselves to write. The stories appear. the memories surface and your perspective gets uncovered. Ideas begin connecting themselves in unexpected ways. A sentence catches your attention... a reflection becomes a social media post... a story becomes an email.

The words were there all along. They were simply buried beneath the endless stream of information we consume every day. Creativity needs space to breathe. And sometimes the most productive thing you can do for your marketing is to close the laptop, find a quiet corner and spend twenty minutes listening to your own thoughts.

You may be surprised by what is waiting there.
