What a privilege it was to return to Mparntwe on Arrernte Country to capture the incredible Apmerenge-ntyele Festival for Children’s Ground. ❤️💛🖤
Across the weekend, our cameras captured traditional dance, live music, workshops, storytelling and the joy of community coming together. From the Mpweringke Anapipe Artwe Dance Group and Engawala Women Dancers to the Atitjere Dancers, Laramba Dance Group, Naygayiw Gigi Dance Group, Deaf Indigenous Dance Group, Arrernte Dancers, Red Flag Dancers and many more—the strength, heart and culture of the festival shone through every performance.
Native Bird Media was proud to lead a four-person media crew, working alongside Red Sands Creative and Indigenous Media NT to capture photography and video across the festival.
A heartfelt thank you to Children's Ground for trusting and contracting Native Bird Media to document this important celebration. It was wonderful working alongside the Children’s Ground team, fellow service providers, performers, artists, cultural leaders and everyone who worked behind the scenes to bring the festival to life.
Returning to Mparntwe was especially meaningful for me, having previously lived and worked in Central Australia. It felt good to be back, reconnecting with old faces and extending Native Bird Media’s creative services across Central Australia and the broader Northern Territory.
I would also like to acknowledge and thank Aboriginal Investment NT for supporting Native Bird Media through its business grant funding. That support enabled us to invest in new professional video equipment and strengthen our capacity to undertake projects like this—capturing important stories, culture and community events.
The spirit of the festival could be felt everywhere. It was an honour to witness it, work alongside such a deadly team and help preserve these moments through film and photography.
Thank you for having us, Children's GroundChildren’s Ground. 🖤
