Your social presence is doing a job whether you're paying attention to it or not!
Consumer reporting shows that between 71-82% of people looking for a service-based business check its social media before making contact.
That means that before you even know you have a lead, they're already trying to get an idea of what working with you will look like.
Which raises a question. If someone landed on your profile today, would it actually represent your business well? Would it show what you do, how you think, and why you're worth choosing? Or would it show a few posts, an outdated bio, and not much of a reason to stay?
For a lot of service businesses, social media is treated as an afterthought. A place to post when there's time. But for the people deciding whether to trust you, it's often the first and most telling impression they get.
Working hard on touch points like Google Reviews or case studies for your website are all a part of a broader strategy that your business does need for success. But these need support, and a marketing strategy that is missing the holistic view and missing a key part of the market is going to fail every time.
So, do you think your social media genuinely reflects your business? And does it help you sell?
Keen to hear how others think about this.
