AQUA DAN creatives Ocean prints, blogs, and freelance photo/video by AquaDanCreatives. Hello! I'm Aqua Dan, the founder of AquaDanCreatives.

With a deep-rooted love for the ocean, I’ve dedicated my life to capturing its beauty through the lens of my camera. Each photograph and video I create is a symphony of colour, light, and movement that encapsulates the mesmerising dance of the waves and the serene elegance of marine life or people who also love the underwater realm. My journey began with a simple GoPro and a boundless curiosity. O

ver the years, I’ve honed my skills, transforming my passion into a profession. My work is not just about creating aesthetically pleasing imagery but about narrating the untold stories that lie beneath the surface of the ocean. Every print, blog post, and visual content piece is a labour of love, aiming to bring the magnificent spectacle of the sea into the homes and hearts of people around the world. When I’m not immersed in the sea, I’m engaged in freelance photography and videography projects for councils, tourism, and beach shoots and more. Every assignment is an opportunity to explore new horizons, meet incredible people, and tell compelling stories through my art. My portfolio is a blend of versatility and precision, each piece echoing the dedication and creativity that defines my craft. Join me on this journey where each wave is a new chapter, each photograph is a new memory.

Caught this huge hermit crab in the shallows of Lady Elliot Island’s lagoon on an early morning reef walk.

At first glance I honestly thought it was just another piece of coral until it started moving.

Hermit crabs don’t actually grow their own shells — they borrow empty shells left behind by sea snails for protection, upgrading homes as they grow larger.

Shot just as the lagoon started glowing with those soft sunrise colours over the reef.

One of the ocean’s true giants cruising through the blue at Lighthouse Bommie, Lady Elliot Island.

Manta rays can reach wingspans of up to 7 metres and are some of the most intelligent marine animals in the ocean, often returning to cleaning stations like this bommie where reef fish remove parasites from their skin.

Leopard sharks at Julian Rocks.

Every year during the warmer months these beautiful sharks gather at Julian Rocks off Byron Bay, creating one of the largest known leopard shark aggregations in the world. Seeing them glide through the blue in numbers like this honestly feels unreal.

Researchers believe they congregate here due to seasonal movement and possible reproductive behaviour, although scientists are still studying exactly why they gather in such large numbers around the rocks.

Despite how impressive they look, leopard sharks are completely harmless to humans and are one of the calmest sharks you can dive with. Most of the time they’re just slowly cruising the rocks and sand channels around Julian Rocks.

One of the most peaceful underwater experiences Australia has to offer.

The Severance at Lady Elliot Island.

Hard to believe this little sailboat sank back in 1998 and now looks like this. The ocean has completely taken it over, covered in colourful soft corals, and reef life. Every year it seems to get more alive.

One of the things I love most about wrecks is how they slowly become part of the reef itself. Fish, coral and marine life all using something man made and turning it into a home.

Lady Elliot really has some unreal dive sites.

The colours on this wreck were insane.
