🚨 New project alert! 🚨

When WACE, the World Association for Cooperative and Work-Integrated Education, came to me, they had a clear vision: to cement their reputation as the go-to global authority in their field. Their existing website wasn’t cutting it—they needed a fresh, modern platform that made it easy to access resources and for new members to join the ranks.

We started with a brand refresh to give their look a contemporary edge, complete with a new logo, fresh brand palette and social media templates to help them stand out.

Then came the big one: a full website redesign. We dove into an SEO strategy and copywriting to ensure their message was clear and easy to find. The new 30-page website we designed and built is clean, professional, and built for their audience. We streamlined the content and created intuitive navigation so members can get what they need without the fuss.

The final site doesn’t just look good; it’s a powerful tool that is intuitive for their community, built to grow with them and positions WACE as a global leader.

If you can't tell, I'm pretty proud of this one. Thanks to Judie Kay and the rest of the WACE team for letting me take them on this journey!

RGB
[adjective] ARR-GEE-BEE

RGB is an acronym that stands for 'red green blue'. It refers to the three colour system used to display colour on screen (computer monitors, televisions, mobile devices etc.). RGB colours are made up of red light, green light and blue light and can be combined together in various quantities to create a multitude of colours.

You should always use RGB as your colour format for anything used on the web or on screen. Yep, it's (super) annoying, but the best way to ensure your images appear as intended.

Want to know the difference between RGB and CMYK? Or how you can change your colour format? Stay tuned!

ABC Heywire 2017 Program Branding & Collateral

Brand Collateral | Branding | Event Design | Reports / Longform Documents

This project is a bit of a blast from the past... it's ABC Heywire's 2017 event brand development. Each year Heywire create a different look and feel for their program. Heywire wanted their 2017 branding to explore the idea of 'having a voice' as a young, regional Australian. They also wanted it to capture the summit's infectious, youthful vibrance. I just loved how it heroes the young people involved in the program and its bright, clean feel.

I've been lucky enough to be involved in the ABC's Heywire Progam since 2014. Not only are they a fantastic team to work with, but the young people that go through the program and the ideas they come up with to improve their rural communities are truly inspirational.

👇 ABOUT HEYWIRE 👇
ABC Heywire creates an opportunity for young, regional Australians to stand up and make a difference. Heywire annually selects a group of forty 16-22-year-olds from across regional, rural and remote Australia to attend the Heywire Youth Summit in Canberra, where they workshop ideas to meet challenges facing their local communities.

The ideas are then published and distributed across Australia. Local organisations can apply for grants to implement these ideas within their communities.

👇 WHAT SLINKY DID👇
Exploring the idea of what it means to have a 'voice' as a young person today, the final design plays on social media 'shareables' through the use of polaroid-type imagery. A bright colour palette captures the atmosphere of the summit, whilst bold, contemporary text represents the way Heywire gives young Australians a voice and empowers them to create change in their local communities.

Deliverables:
- Brand development
- Posters
- Postcards
- Flyers
- Grant Booklet
- T-shirts
- Pull up banners
- Social Media posts
- Presentation slides
- On-the-ground design support and delivery at the 2017 Heywire Summit in Canberra

It might feel like it's more productive to keep working through your to-do list, but the reality is sometimes taking a moment to refill your cup will increase your productivity tenfold in the long run.

I had a super productive week this week, but yesterday... I just hit a wall. I felt like I should just keep pushing through, but my gut told me to get out in the winter sunshine. So I wandered down to the local shops and got some yummy stuff to cook a delicious dinner for friends and spent some time pottering in the kitchen.

Share how you refill your cup below.

This week I've been taking a mini break at a design retreat with a bunch of awe-inspiring business ladies. Yes, we've been doing some amazing connecting and brainstorming to boot... But we've also been drinking cocktails, having facials and going out to dinner. Because sometimes you need to rest to reset.

LIBRARY QUEST
Brand development & collateral rollout

This project was totally my jam. I just loved the playful and quirky nature of the game and the drive of the people behind it.

👇 About Library Quest 👇

Library Quest is an online game that helps orientate new tertiary students to their Library and its resources. The game is quirky and humorous and strives to educate through engagement.

Library Quest needed a brand that established its game as professional, trustworthy, and tested whilst subtly communicating the fun and quirky elements of the game. It was important to tout robust, evidenced outcomes of the game. The brand also needed to resonate with students and help libraries raise awareness and deliver their resources.

👇 What Slinky Did 👇

Slinky chose a font that was bold and contemporary, which helped to convey Library Quest as a trustworthy tech product that creates evidenced based impact within the tertiary library sector. The playfulness of the game was subtly brought through by turning the ‘Q’ in ‘quest’ into a magnifying glass, which could then be used as a supporting brand element across collateral. A monochromatic palette was used to allow for ultimate flexibility with the changing face of the game.

Oh I know... it's been a while.

BUT... I'm speaking at the Designer Boss Summit this week 🎉. I'll be talking all about setting up systems and processes in your design business.

I've been an attendee for the last 3 summits and it's a full-on festival of amazing content.

This summit is a FREE digital conference devoted to helping creative entrepreneurs work smarter and not harder in their design businesses. There are 20 +amazing speakers coming at you from all over the world. Topics range from making sales, to charging premium prices, to simplifying your own schedule (and
everything in between).

Because I like to keep life interesting, I've launched a lil side project, 'Graphic Design for Archi-Types'!

It's a support network and resource hub to teach the architecture and interior design industry (my first stomping ground as a fledgling graphic designer!) graphic design principles as well as InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator.

I'm really pumped to get this out in the open, so if you know anyone in the industry, please send them this way!

And... if you feel like following along at home (or just want to give me some love) like my page!

Oh, and in case you were wondering, almost 70% of us design folk present in Prue Jones’ talk this afternoon find Justin Trudeau ‘Extremely soothing to look at’.

What can I say? We’re a visual tribe.
