aching. My experience in music taught me the importance of precision and harmony, which is similar to how our wardrobe should function when we wear colours that bring balance, vitality, and expression to our lives. Colour can profoundly affect your life, infusing it with vibrancy, energy, and rejuvenation. My journey into colour analysis began in my youth when I read my mum's book, 'Colour Me Beautiful' by Carole Jackson, in the 90s. I was captivated by the concept of categorising women into four seasons based on colour. After becoming a mother and experiencing a creative slump, I rediscovered colour analysis and felt a strong desire to incorporate more colour into my wardrobe beyond the usual neutrals and gym wear. Discovering my own seasonal colours ignited a passion in me to help others find their colours, so they too can experience the joy, confidence, and healing that I found through colour! Colour Analysis Qualification and Training
I am certified as a Colour Analyst from the International Image Institute, founded by Karen Brunger, who developed the globally recognised seasonal and tonal flow system for colour analysis. I have recently completed Italian Image Institute's Rosella Migliaccio's 'Armocromia' colour analysis system training course certificate. I will soon undertake a Mastery Certification in colour analysis with Karen Brunger this May. What You Will Gain
As a colour analyst, I will assist you in comprehending the effects of colour choices on your personal style, encompassing clothing, makeup, hair, and accessories. Together, we will identify a colour palette that enhances your natural features, elevates your mood, expresses your individual style, boosts your confidence, and influences the perceptions of others. Colour Analysis is a celebration of your uniqueness. It fosters self-acceptance by highlighting your inherent characteristics through color. This process will enable you to experience greater self-expression, improved self-care, and a reduction in shopping-related stress.

What is Olive Skin in Colour Analysis- is it neutral??

Olive skin is a subsurface colour characteristic, not an undertone. It is often described as a subtle grey-green or grey-yellow cast that sits over the skin and influences how the complexion appears.

In colour analysis:

β€’ Undertone refers to whether the skin is warm, cool, or neutral.
β€’ Olive refers to a muted, greyed quality in the skin’s appearance.
β€’ You can be warm olive, cool olive, or neutral olive.

A simple way to visualise olive skin is:

Olive skin is like placing a soft grey filter over a yellow-based complexion.

Olive is not an undertone. It is a skin characteristic that sits over the undertone and affects how the skin reflects and displays colour.

Can you guess her best colour palette? πŸ‘€

Colour has the power to either enhance your natural features or compete against them. The right colours can make your skin look clearer, your eyes brighter, and bring a healthy, radiant appearance to your face. The wrong colours can create shadows, emphasise redness, dull the complexion, or make you look tired and washed out.

This is why colour analysis isn’t about your favourite colourβ€”it’s about discovering the colours that naturally harmonise with your unique colouring.

I’m often asked about my favourite lipstick brands for True Winter colouring that offer cleaner formulas and are a little more conscious of ingredients.

Some of the brands I personally enjoy wearing are:

πŸ’„ Karen Murrell
πŸ’„ Benecos
πŸ’„ Burt’s Bees
πŸ’„ Natio
πŸ’„ Antipodes
πŸ’„ Ilia

Knowing your season takes the guesswork out of shopping and helps you choose lipstick shades that enhance your natural colouring rather than compete with it.

✨ Not sure which lipstick colours suit you best? A professional colour analysis will identify your ideal undertone, value, and intensity, making makeup and clothing choices so much easier.

One of the most important things colour analysis reveals is your best value range β€” whether you suit lighter colours, darker colours, or a balance of both.

As a Winter, I need both intensity and depth in my colours. When I wear colours that are too light, soft, or lacking depth, my skin fades into the background, I lose definition, and my complexion can appear washed out or grey. The deeper, clearer colours found in my palette bring back contrast, healthy colour, and make my features stand out naturally.

This is why colour analysis isn’t just about warm versus cool. Value (lightness and darkness) plays a huge role in creating harmony and helping you look your most vibrant.

Do you know your best value range? Let me know in the comments whether you shine in lighter colours, darker colours, or somewhere in between! πŸ‘‡βœ¨
