Our Story

The Linen Press is a Melbourne-based company that was established in 1994 by mother and daughter, Joan and Susy Kennedy. They started by designing and sourcing hand embroidery in Vietnam. When these products became unavailable, the company began importing textiles from producers in India that are ethically sourced and organically certified. Joan’s personal love of textiles and native flora and fauna led to the development of textile ranges featuring all kinds of Australian plants and animals. The Linen Press products are designed in conjunction with local artists and printed on aprons, tea towels, pot holders, mitts, tote bags, purses and pouches.

In November 2018, The Linen Press began a new chapter with BRANDED Ideas purchasing the business. BRANDED Ideas is owned by two brothers and best mates – Derek & Gordon Liddle, who have worked together in merchandise design and sales for over 25 years. It’s a new chapter, but the story is the same: we’re committed to working in collaboration with local artists to share all we love about Australia’s people, culture, flora and fauna.
