Kentian Scholarship Foundation Board Member 2013 – 2020

The Kentian Scholarship Foundation Board Members 2013 – 2020 and the current Kentian Society Archivists extend our deepest condolences to Coralie's family.

She was a valued Board member who made a significant contribution to the Foundation through her attendance and excellent incite on the Scholarship Selection panel.
A great loss to all.

Cricket Legacy and Career Highlights:

• WACA Legend: She was a legendary figure in WA cricket, serving as a player, administrator, and selector over several decades. First selected to represent the Women’s State Cricket Team at the age of 13, she is regarded as the youngest player to have competed in interstate cricket.

• Statistical Peak: In her prime, she recorded an extraordinary bowling average of 7.09, taking 53 wickets in a single season.

• Historical Milestone: Towers was the first player in the Western Australian Women’s Cricket Association (WAWCA) competition to achieve the "double" of 50 wickets and 500 runs in a single season.

• National Representation: She was selected for Australian squads in 1958, 1961, and 1963, touring both New Zealand and England.

• Administrative Impact: Beyond playing, she oversaw the creation of the secondary schoolgirl's competition in 1965, which established the foundation for modern underage cricket in WA.

The Archives has a new addition - a framed boys sports top (in this case, soccer). It may look a little unusual and that's because it was designed in 1940. And the designer was 1st Year student George Playford.
Note the lace-up front.
The collar tag says it came from Bairds.

Farewell and Welcome

After 16 years of outstanding service and dedication, Pat Sanders has stepped down from the 2025 Archives Group. We extend our heartfelt thanks for her remarkable contribution—Pat’s presence, insight, and commitment will be deeply missed.

Enjoy your time in Victoria, Pat.

At the same time, we’re delighted to welcome Rose Benson to the group. Rose brings a wealth of knowledge about KSSHS and a distinguished background in English and Drama, having directed at least ten drama productions during her teaching career. We’re thrilled to have her on board and look forward to the energy and expertise she’ll bring.
