If you work in Australian tourism, you don’t need to be told how important the environment is. You see it every day.
The reef, rainforest, outback, coastline. It’s why people come here, and it’s what so many of you are working to protect while you share it.
World Environment Day is a good moment to pause on that.
This year’s theme is climate action, and while it can sound big and global, a lot of the action is already happening here in small, practical ways. The way tours are run. The way visitors are guided. The way operators are thinking about impact, not just numbers.
Sustainable tourism isn’t new to this industry. For many of you, it’s simply how you’ve always worked.
So this isn’t really a reminder.
Just a nod that what you’re doing matters, and it adds up. Because when the environment is looked after, tourism can keep doing what it does best.
