Jim Beam - Barrel to Bondi - 10 years on...
At Big Kahuna HQ, we’ve been reminiscing about this same week 10 years ago – yes. TEN YEARS. A decade ago, this week.
That was one mammoth week for all of us here at Kahuna Imagineering, as we worked tirelessly to convert Iceberg’s 50-metre Olympic pool into the World’s Biggest Esky full of Beam – as the final part of the famous bourbon brand’s international TVC campaign.
We loaded in more than 30 tonnes of materials, including over 2500 custom-fabricated gang-moulded ice cubes, 35 cans of Jim Beam that stood 2.8m - 3.6m tall x 2m wide, down a winding path, over two balconies and then down another flight of stairs, – only to have to carry it all back up again less than 24 hours later!
This certainly was a project of Titanic proportions that changed the landscape - for a DAY! It remains one of our favourites to this day. This ambitious project had it all – an A-class team, great media coverage and reach, one very happy client plus awesome public feedback. As one onlooker commented on the day: “The setup was executed to perfection. Makes you remember life before CGI!”
So, as we look back 10 years later, we want to give a huge congratulations and a big pat on the back to all involved in this iconic campaign. We’d also love to give a huge thanks to Works for believing in Big Kahuna Imagineering to pull it off.
We’ve not seen anything quite like it at Bondi since, and we’re not sure we ever will.
