We would like to provide you with an update regarding the temporary interruption to some website and email services experienced early Saturday morning.
Our hosting and server infrastructure provider, VentraIP Australia, was recently impacted by a very large-scale Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attack targeting Australian digital service providers and network infrastructure. Unfortunately, this caused temporary network degradation which affected a number of websites, emails, and online services hosted through their platform, including some of the services we manage for our customers.
According to VentraIP, the attack exceeded 600Gbps in size, making it one of the largest incidents they have experienced in their 18 years of operation. The traffic originated from a large number of compromised devices and connections, which overloaded multiple network providers and internet transit services across Australia.
Due to the sheer volume of malicious traffic, some services experienced:
✔ Slow website loading
✔ Temporary website outages
✔ Email sending and receiving delays
✔ Intermittent connectivity issues
VentraIP’s engineering and infrastructure teams worked continuously throughout the incident to stabilise the network and restore services as quickly as possible. Temporary mitigation systems have now been implemented, and they are currently working with additional vendors and providers to deploy stronger long-term DDoS protection and network resilience solutions.
At this stage, the immediate threat has been resolved and services are operating normally again. We are continuing to monitor all hosted services closely to ensure stability.
Please note:
✔ No customer websites or data were compromised
✔ This was a network-level attack rather than a website security breach
✔ The interruption was caused by external malicious traffic overwhelming network infrastructure
If you are still experiencing any website or email-related issues, please contact us and we will investigate the matter further for you.
