Do you know the impact of musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) in Australia?

Work-related MSDs are the #1 work, health and safety issue ( Work Australia)

$55.1B is the annual cost of MSDs to the Australian economy, including direct health costs, lost productivity and reduced quality of life ( Industries)

7.3 million (29%) Australians suffer chronic MSDs (ABS National Health Survey June 24)

57% (the majority) of Australian workers’ compensation claims are for WMSDs and cost around $65,000 per serious claim

Top 4 WMSDs in Australia: Low back pain, neck pain, mid-back pain and cervicogenic headaches

Today is the start of National WorkSpace Week, an initiative by the Chiropractors Association which aims to create safe and healthy workspaces and to lessen the long-term impact on workers, employers, and the economy by improving the spinal health and wellbeing of all workers vulnerable to WMSDs.

👧 National Child Protection Week 2025 | 7–13 September 👦

This year’s theme, “Every Conversation Matters: Shifting the Conversation to Action”, reminds us that protecting children starts with open, caring and respectful conversations.

Every child deserves to feel safe, supported and valued—at home, in school, and in the community. Together, we can create a culture where children’s voices are heard and where action follows words.

👉 Let’s start the conversations that matter, and commit to making real change for children’s safety and wellbeing.

Storytelling has the power to shape perceptions, drive policy change, and amplify voices that need to be heard.

On Friday, we had the privilege of joining Communication and Public Relations Australia 'Media for Social Good - Amplifying Case Studies and Lived Experience Masterclass' - an insightful conversation on ethical storytelling in advocacy and PR.

Engaging with incredible professionals from with Cancer Council NSW, Australian Council of Social Service, Alexandra Hodgkinson, Cliff Fraser and , we explored the responsibility media and communication professionals have in ensuring authenticity, dignity, and impact when sharing lived experiences.

Ethical storytelling isn’t just a best practice - it’s a necessity. As media professionals, how do we balance compelling narratives with respect for those whose stories we share? How can we move beyond tokenism to true empowerment?

We encourage all advocacy, PR, and media professionals to be part of this critical discussion.
