About the impact words can have on user experience:
Words trigger emotions, emotions trigger actions.
In this case, words triggered some negative emotions, but the "users" had to complete the process by law, in other cases most of them would just drop at this point, and in both cases, users had a negative experience.
Note that women quoted in this article complain about how the questions was worded and how it made them feel.
