I spend most of my time photographing weddings, but lately I’ve wanted to just photograph more of the day to day as well.

I’m starting something called ‘At Home’. It’s an ongoing portrait series about what makes us feel at home. Some stories will unfold within four walls, while others might take place somewhere else entirely; people, places or ordinary things.

For each story, I’ll ask the same simple question.
“What little things make your life feel like home right now?”

Here’s the first.

Growing up Chinese-Australian, there’s something about photographing a tea ceremony that feels a little more personal. I love what it represents; respect, gratitude, family and honouring the generations before us.

But it’s the little moments between generations that I love most. Seeing the same culture carried through different generations and different upbringings; especially in a moment like this as mum watches Yannie, the daughter she raised, begin a family of her own.

I love golden hour but sometimes it just doesn’t happen. The timeline runs late and the sun disappears.

But that’s actually when it gets pretty fun! Finding pockets of light, working with headlights, street lights, flashes, playing with shadows and making something out of whatever the night gives us.

Some of my favourite photos have come from moments where the “perfect” light wasn’t there. I’ll always love a good golden hour, but I’ll definitely keep shooting even after the sun disappears.

Wedding photography means different things to different people. For me, it’s always been about creating beautiful photos without taking couples away from the experience of their day.

I’ll be quietly following you around on your wedding day, paying attention to the things you probably won’t even notice in the moment.

Your dad trying not to cry.
Your friends laughing during the speeches.
Your grandmother pulling you in for an extra hug.
The quick glances, happy tears, and all the little moments in between.

I love finding interesting ways to frame a scene without interrupting it. It’s my way of bringing together the moments that are unfolding naturally with my creativity take that makes each gallery feel unique.

Every wedding tells a different story. I’m so grateful for every couple who has trusted me to help celebrate their special day 🫶
