Happy International Women's Day to all you awesome women!
Most of you know the vast majority of my clients are women. Supporting women is a huge part of my purpose. I want all women to feel like they have a path to financial independence that is supported and sustainable and achievable, that they're not doing it alone. I adore being part of the myriad ways that my clients impact the world and release their magic into the universe. By supporting you I feel like I am also supporting all of your clients. I am so proud to be part of the work that you do.

You're doing amazing and profound things by being bold enough to run your own businesses. And as a bonus you're embodying examples for other women to imagine for themselves an independent future where they control their own finances, their own hours, the value of their labour.

So, to all you wonderful magic weavers, thank you.

Playing "smash the keyboard" with my toddler on one of my ancient uni computers today and found by chance my first ever logo designed for a client in 2013: FightBack Fitness. It was meant to look tough. All I see now is a sad face.

Thankfully I am constantly learning, observing, refining, playing around.

I wonder what 25 year old Milly would think if she knew I now charged $1500-3000 for a logo and brand package.

In 2013 my career was shaping up nicely in sales and marketing in academic publishing, not design, and yet there I was making logos anyway. It's funny how your career works out.

Today was one of those head-down, creative-brainstorming, coffee-fuelled kind of days, finalising the last pieces of two events I’m ridiculously excited about.

Ever wondered why your website analytics seem to change their mind depending on where you look? One page says 23 sessions. Another says 24. Which one’s lying?

The truth is, they’re both telling the truth — they’re just looking at the data in slightly different ways. This happens in almost every analytics system, and there are a few reasons why.

First, not all reports update at the same time. Your overview dashboard often uses cached data, meaning it might be a few hours old. The detailed view might be pulling fresh numbers that include visits that happened more recently. That’s why you can see one number in the morning and a different one by the afternoon.

Second, “last 30 days” doesn’t always mean the same thing in every report. One section might mean “today plus the last 29 days,” while another means “the last 30 full days excluding today.” Some reports even wait until a day is complete before locking in the count, so if you’re looking mid-day, your totals might still be climbing.

Third, session counting rules can differ depending on the report. A “session” is usually a group of user actions within a set time window (often 30 minutes). If someone leaves your site and comes back quickly, one view might merge those visits into a single session, while another treats them as two separate ones.

And finally, there’s the processing itself. Some parts of your analytics round numbers, others wait until the raw logs are fully processed. That’s how you can end up with 23.6 sessions being rounded up in one place, but shown as 23 in another.

The bottom line? Tiny variations in your numbers are completely normal. What matters is that you’re comparing data from the same type of report each time, so you’re not mixing apples with oranges. If you’re tracking growth, pick one report view and stick with it.

In website analytics, direct traffic means visitors got to your site without clicking a link from another website, search engine, or social media platform.

That doesn’t always mean they typed your URL from memory — analytics tools often classify visits as “direct” if they can’t figure out the source.

Common examples of how direct traffic happens:
🔍 Typing your URL into the browser — e.g., www.yoursite.com.
🔍 Using a bookmark — clicking a saved link in their browser.
🔍 Clicking an untagged link in an email or PDF — if there’s no tracking code, it can appear as direct.
🔍 From some apps or messaging platforms — like WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger, or Slack, if they strip referral data.
🔍 Secure to non-secure browsing — clicking from an HTTPS site to an HTTP site can sometimes lose referral info.
🔍 QR codes — unless tagged with tracking parameters, they can appear as direct.

If your direct traffic percentage is high (like the 89% in your screenshot), it could mean:
💙 You have a lot of loyal visitors who know your site.
ℹ️ Some of your marketing links aren’t being tracked properly.
