A website doesn’t mind the weather. It keeps your shop open on wet Saturdays, school nights and 2am scrolls on the couch.

You know the feeling. You’ve been up since 4am, loaded the car, set up the gazebo, arranged every piece just so. Then the sky opens and the aisles go quiet. All that work, and nobody there to see it.

What you make deserves more than one good day of weather.

I design Squarespace shop templates for makers, so you’re not starting from a blank page. Keepsake Blooms is the first in the collection: swap in your own photos and products, and you could have your site live this week. Then the next time it rains, you’ve still got somewhere for people to find you.

P.S. I’m also giving one Northern Rivers maker a template for free. Entries close 1 November, and the link’s in my bio

I use AI every day in my design business.

But I don't use it to design for me.

I use it to get some of the other stuff out of my way.

Things like:

→ Keeping ongoing client projects organised and maintaining their brand context.

→ Finding that email I *know* someone sent me three months ago.

→ Helping me turn my ideas into content across my blog, newsletter and socials.

→ Building useful tools that solve actual problems.

That last one is where I'm having the most fun.

I'm currently experimenting with an app inspired by the chaos of managing kids' schedules.

School. Sport. Social stuff. Multiple calendars.

Instead of checking everything, the idea is that you could simply ask:

“What's happening with the kids this week?”

I'm building for businesses too, including a custom app that brings a client's SOPs and business operations together in one place.

And it's making me think differently about what my role as a designer actually is.

I'm not just here to make things look good.

I'm here to understand the problem and work out the best way to solve it.

Sometimes that solution is design.

Sometimes it's a website.

And increasingly, it might be something I can build with AI.

AI can make things. The real value is knowing what's worth making.

I've written more about how I'm actually using AI in my business and what I think it means for designers.
