NATIONAL CLOSE THE GAP DAY | 19 March 2026

Closing the Gap has been a longstanding campaign, addressing health and wellbeing inequalities facing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples. Yet another year passes and we are still pushing for change.

Our team were proud to be apart of sharing community voices reflected in the NSW CAPO Closing the Gap Community Engagement Report in 2022.
You can learn more by visiting 👉 alc.org.au/nsw-capo

This years Closing the Gap theme, “Community Voices: The Pathway to Justice, Equality and Healing” highlights the lived experience and health inequities still facing our communities, and the importance of policy makers centring First Nations voices in the path forward to change. The 2026 Close the Gap campaign report calls on governments to move beyond policies and to take definitive actions in response to the longstanding health inequities facing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples.

26 JANUARY IS NOT THE DATE TO CELEBRATE

Each year many people in Australia, First Nations and allies, come together across many Nations and communities to give time and care to each other but not to celebrate.

Yirra Miya as a business will always stand strong on this message each and every year. Today is not the date! Year on year, we hold our heads up waiting that together as a Country we can create change. For Australians to come together, step forward together and taking action.

✨  Our lovely Lauren loves a challenge! ...And her first challenge was trying to find a bag of Clinkers, but it seems like every shop in Australia was sold out!

So instead of the Clinkers Challenge, we present Lauren taking on the Skittles Challenge! 🍬 Watch for some Yirra Miya sneak peaks, super-sweet fur babies, and a gorgeous candy-coloured palette. 👀

💙 MULTI PAGE LAYOUT DESIGN ǀ .capo

CONNECT ǀ We were super-excited when the NSW CAPO team connected with us again, this time asking us to provide layout design for a hugely important report 📖 NSW Independent Aboriginal-led Government Accountability Mechanism. Having undertaken their branding program, Leticia was excited to be working with the NSW CAPO team again, using the brand identity she had created for them in action. ⭐️

SHARE ǀ Working on a tight deadline, Leticia created an array of infographics to convey a large amount of information and statistics in a visually-appealing way. This enhanced the reader experience by making the important information digestible and better understood. The report was further complemented by the integration of the cultural elements that Leticia had created in 2023. This was a large report so Leticia and Justine teamed up for the layout design and the result was a product of this amazing team effort. ✨

EMBRACE ǀ Working with NSW CAPO is always a genuinely collaborative experience and their response to the final design was so positive! 🧡 Leticia and Justine are rightly proud of the result and we are so pleased that we continue to work with NSW CAPO.

We’d love to hear from you if you have a multi-page report that we can bring to life!

CULTURAL ELEMENTS PACKAGE 🧡 NSW CAPO
capo and Leticia have been working together for a few years now, so she was very excited when they approached Yirra Miya to create their brand identity! ⭐️

NSW CAPO is a group of peak organisations that advocate for Aboriginal Community-Controlled Organisations across the state and work in partnership with the NSW Government to deliver the National Agreement on Closing the Gap.

👉 As part of their branding project, Leticia designed these beautiful and meaningful cultural elements that visually convey the importance of the work NSW CAPO undertake. Working collaboratively with their team, Leticia highlighted exactly what they stand for, and how they create lasting change in communities.

The importance of this design project, and the trust shown by NSW CAPO, was uppermost in Leticia’s mind and she was overjoyed that their team embraced the elements as much as she did! We love working with NSW CAPO and are very proud that they continue to connect with Yirra Miya for design work! 💙

ARTWORK SHOWCASE ǀ ‘Evolving Impact of the National Native Title Tribunal’ 🩵

The National Native Title Tribunal reached out to Yirra Miya in early 2025 looking to undergo a brand re-fresh to align their visual identity more with the purpose behind the tribunal. ✨ They also required an accompanying branding artwork to align and provide an accurate reflection of the story behind the tribunal.

Lauren’s connection with this project was immediate and she felt a huge responsibility for creating an artwork that told the story of the importance of the work of the National Native Title Tribunal.

This artwork serves as a snapshot of the present of the National Native Title Tribunal. Acknowledging the rich history of the tribunal and key moments in our history which have shaped the present. The artwork also highlights that our present moments will impact the future of the tribunal, while also providing a place for First Nations communities to feel supported on their Native Title journeys.

Lauren collaborated with the NNTT team throughout this project and is extremely proud to have created an artwork that has been so warmly received by them. 🤩

PROJECT REFLECTIONS ǀ The smiles say it all! 😄

Lauren was so happy to meet up with former client Luke from at the recent Supply Nation Conference. And they’re posing in front of the beautiful artwork Lauren created for them! 🙌

Luke was kind enough to give Yirra Miya a glowing testimonial of his experiences working with us and the feeling was mutual! Lauren loved the collaborative journey of working with the LGP team and creating an artwork and elements that tells the story of LGP’s commitment to elevating First Nations business within the Local Government procurement space.

💛 At Yirra Miya, we want every client to feel that they have taken the journey with us, a journey of learning, understanding, and collaboration, that culminates with a finished design that they love and are proud of.

If you have a design project you’d like to discuss, we’re excited to yarn with you and take you on the Yirra Miya journey!
