Having a native design file? vs. ai graphic. Thoughts to ponder...
The ai graphic creation is amazing i am so in awe of how quickly things come to together and something that would have taken me hours to produce can be done in 20 secs. Technology and keeping up with the advancing tech is overwhelming i too feel like i am unable to keep up. I see it all the time things being designed and printed all created by some who wouldn't have opened a graphic program in their life.
However a thought to ponder, among all the others is this... (something that was pointed out to me recently) that the ai design is not an asset you can get into later, if you want to change a word make an alteration you will need to get the ai to create the whole graphic again and more often than not it will not come out the same. Your resources at the beginning mean you are starting again from scratch and that leaves room for discrepancies in lots of areas which affect your branding.
And even if in your first creation all your branding and everything was great the first time, as the ai learns new things from different sources and trends change your branding will slightly change and look more and more like everyone else's graphics, i see flyers which use the same colours the same layouts the same messages for all different businesses.
I have been in design for over 30years. My suggestions have never been about the showy stuff, but it has always been in taking the time to work out who your business is for, what it is you want to acheive, how are you going to use it in the future which can often be cumbersome when someone just wants something now. But having a moment to think about that means later on down the track you dont have to start again and there are things that can be done now to save time later.
The value to me is not in the time it takes to create the graphic cause anyone can do that with today's tools years ago it was the clients neighbour's kid who can play with microsoft paint, today its ai & canva...
its in the decisions of the branding, the messaging and then the graphic creation is just a part of that. If you have a native design file you can make alterations pull parts out that once created can be reused in other things. It's understanding why you dont have 5 different fonts in a document, its being able to create assets that can be pulled upon but rationale as to why something is done the way it is .. not just cause today i felt like using yellow :)
Don't get me wrong i am not saying we have to go back to the old way of doing things but I do consider there is a balance between the new tech and the value in considering the strategy rather than just doing cause you can :)
Thoughts to ponder :)
