There's no way to say this . I have some sad news to share with you.
Roger Summerill and I had heard a whisper that former legendary radio executive Tony Moltzen may not be well.
We've received a note from Tony’s beloved wife, Marie, this afternoon, to confirm what we had recently been alerted to- Tony is indeed unwell.
The cancer Tony thought he had under control, resurfaced with a vengeance and although he and Marie tried everything that was available, sadly this has not been enough.
Tony has been in palliative care for the last fortnight or so.
Marie writes in her note that ”… Tony is at peace, he has no pain and is being very well cared for as he is bed bound and his body is exhausted…”.
Obviously Tony was not able to attend John Brennan’s funeral. However he managed to catch up with John just prior to Brenno’s passing.
Tony loved Radio and even more so his Radio mates. That was evident every time we met.
He has not only enjoyed a successful career in the industry he was also a good and loyal friend to so many of us.
For me he is up there with the top 3 GM's I've ever worked with in radio. At Wesgo Tony allowed me the freedom to do my job while also accepting the responsibilities that came with us bringing together a new radio Network. 2WS and 2GO were the flagship stations of an amazing time in the growth of radio networks in Australia.
Please keep Tony, Marie , their four children and spouses, their 14 grandchildren and almost five great grandchildren in your thoughts and prayers at what is a very sad and challenging time for them all.
As I hear of any further developments I will be in touch. Meantime enjoy the story from Radioinfo on some of the industry greats enjoying lunch together. Oh the stories they no doubt told !!! That's Tony in the rear right of pic sitting between John Laws. and Steve Liebman

Not that anybody was counting, but there must be around 300 years of Radio experience gathered around this table at Burlington’s in Crows Nest. What plots were hatched or hatchets buried? Ironically, the restaurant’s previous owners used to host murder nights. Seated around the table (left to ri...
