I regularly receive emails from postgraduates looking for a graphic design position, and I thought I would share my latest response:

'Thank you for sending your resume through; I like your portfolio and your enthusiasm for design. My company isn't equipt to hire people, Sometimes I wish I were big enough to be able to. Transitioning from learning to 'doing' is a big step and a huge skills-loading curve. It's great you have a job at '--' where you can do design work. If you can get employment in print houses, you will learn rapidly about balancing design v's time, and, most importantly production workflow, prepress and designing for different industries – feedback is your best way to learn.

Design is a really cool job, and I have been in the game for 20 years. I cut my teeth starting out on logo design packages, and organically growing my network through word of mouth, and google when it was launched!

If I could do it all again, I would have liked to partner with someone with business nous to complement me, who knows where I could have taken things. But in reality, I have a beautifully balanced work/life and a job I love, so staying small is being true to myself and keeps me sitting in the designer seat which is what I love.

To be a good designer, I think you need creativity, empathy and experience. This all takes time, so enjoy the journey and keep putting yourself out there. All the best!'

A hand-painted mural was just what this beachside kiosk needed to inject colour into this prominent Cottesloe beach cafe. From artwork creation to painting, our creative team carried out all aspects of this design project. Special mention to Jamie for her artistic assistance for this after-hours gig.

The 2022 MVPS yearbook is a treasured keepsake celebrating the events held during the year. The custom-designed cover reinforces the school’s values and vision and includes objects and words the students are familiar with to create a sense of connection.

Loki+Me is a joyful brand for pooch accessories and quality dog food. The brief was to use 'Loki' the miniature pinscher front and centre as the face of the brand. To make the logo flexible for production print processes an outlined illustration of Loki was created from a photograph.

The brand package was to contain primary and secondary variations of the logo for flexibility. With some products needed a horizontal format logo, while some needed a circle at a small scale.

Social media icons were created for continuity through social channels and a Logo style guide that references colours, fonts and logo variations that can ensure consistency in the online store. Packaging design and production is the next stage in Loki+Me's branding.

I had a blast creating this promotional video - from storyboarding and character illustrations through to After Effects animation, a catchy promotional video is now ready for social media consumption! After 17 years, WA hosted this year's PA Canoe Wild Water Championships in the Avon Valley. Moja assisted at an early stage of the event planning, designing the key sponsorship proposal document to help gain funding for the event, through to merchandise materials including custom-designed dye sublimation polo, event guide booklet, teardrop flags and branded dry bags for each competitors race pack.
