A little something worth sharing with our Albany community.

My amazing client Mike from Albany Motel & Apartments asked me to help spread the word about these free Mental Health Maintenance workshops with 20Talk

Mike and his family have supported 20Talk from the very beginning, and I’ve seen how much he cares about supporting our community as he has generously donated to my project 100 Years 100 Stories - It’s lovely to see local businesses putting care into such important things.

The focus for these courses with 20Talk is on mental health maintenance, how we look after our mental wellbeing in everyday life. It might be something for you, your older kids, a friend or someone in your family.

There are three sessions to choose from:

Saturday 7 November, 9am–1pm
Saturday 7 November, 1–5pm
Sunday 8 November, 9am–1pm

Helping regional businesses bloom.

Clever Octopus was born almost four years ago from a love of creativity, connection and helping people bring their ideas to life.

Today, I work with businesses, organisations and community projects across the Great Southern and beyond, offering brand strategy, identity design, photography, websites, illustration, marketing, campaigns, product design and creative direction. Whether it’s building a brand from the ground up or helping an established business evolve, I love being part of the journey.

What makes Clever Octopus different is the way I work.

Every project begins with people. I take a human-centred, design-thinking approach, investing time in understanding your business, your audience, your goals and what makes you unique. I ask questions, explore possibilities and look beyond the obvious to uncover opportunities that create meaningful connections.

I genuinely love what I do, and I care deeply about the businesses and organisations I work with. The strategic thinking, creativity and attention to detail that goes into each project is something I’m incredibly proud of. It means I can create work that not only looks beautiful, but feels aligned, purposeful and true to who you are.

There’s something really special about watching people evolve over time.

I’ve had the privilege of working alongside Katherine through different chapters, businesses changing, ideas shifting, life unfolding and now seeing her step into this new chapter as an artist and opening her very first exhibition at the Albany Entertainment Centre.

When Katherine asked me to document this exhibition, she didn’t want traditional portraits or obvious “stand here and smile” moments. She wanted something that felt more like her work itself, layered, thoughtful, a little abstract and open to interpretation.

So rather than photographing the artist, I wanted to capture the feeling of moving through her world. The quiet moments. Reflections. Fragments. Texture. The spaces between.

I think some of my favourite stories sit in the moments people almost miss.

A little life update 🐙

For the next couple of weeks Clever Octopus will be a little quieter while I take some time away to focus on my health and recovery.

As someone who is usually creating, designing, photographing and spinning a hundred ideas at once, slowing down doesn’t come naturally, but I’m learning that rest is important too.

Current client projects will still be gently ticking along as I ease back in, with replies happening as I can, and new project bookings reopening from 26 June.

Thank you for your patience, kindness and continued support of this little business of mine. I’m looking forward to returning with a full cup and fresh creative energy.
