I keep hearing people say AI is going to kill authenticity, and I just don’t buy it.

If anything, I think it’s about to make it painfully obvious who never really had a voice to begin with.

Because here’s what’s actually happening.

All the things people used to rely on to sound credible like polished captions, corporate language, saying the “right” thing etc. can now be generated in seconds.

So if we all sound good… then what?

What’s left is the part that can’t be templated.

* what you actually think
* what you’ve actually lived
* what you’re willing to say that others won’t.

That’s the bit that cuts through now and it’s why I’ve been building something new - a playbook for small business owners, operators, and anyone who doesn’t want their professional identity to disappear the minute a job title changes.

Whether you can see it or not, it happens all the time@(and once you can see it, you can’t unsee it).

People build credibility inside something, not outside of it… and then one day it’s gone.

A MESSAGE FROM OUR FOUNDER & CEO, LISA 💫

Having worked in PR and marketing communications for 25 years, one thing still surprises me: how often the value of credible, high quality storytelling is questioned.

With the rapid rise of AI, that question is being asked more than ever.

But storytelling has not become less important. It has become critical.

As AI reshapes how people search, discover and make decisions, the content that rises to the top is not just optimised. It is trusted. It is referenced. It feels human. This is where earned media plays a powerful role.

AI search pulls from signals of authority, credibility and consistency across multiple sources. If your business is not showing up in meaningful third party conversations, you risk becoming invisible.

This is why earned media is no longer a nice to have. It is a strategic necessity.

Even leaders in AI are reinforcing this. As Daniela Amodei from Anthropic put it, “I prefer to hire people with humanities backgrounds because I can teach the technical skills. What I cannot teach is taste, judgment and perspective.”

That is exactly what cuts through.

While my business used to be called LBPR and is now Grass Is Greener Marketing Communications, PR / earned media remains central to what we do. Because no matter how the landscape shifts, credible and human stories are what build trust and visibility.

As a journalist and published author, storytelling has always been at the heart of my work.

We are funding hot meals on Christmas Day for 26 people experiencing homelessness, ensuring no one goes without during this special time of year.
