Keep it simple. Make it meaningful.

Yes, the word stupid often follows simple, usually muttered after spending 12 hours on something that should have taken two.

It's easy to get caught up in rabbit holes and distractions, especially social media, and what was supposed to be a straightforward project has swallowed the whole day and left you frustrated at yourself.

This has been on a card above my desk for a long time and I still make this mistake. Overcomplicating things instead of just thinking it through, stripping back the non essentials and letting the core message do the work. That takes time and experience to do consistently and honestly I think I'll be working on it forever.

This has been a more recent focus this year, helping develop and evolve Avisure’s education platform from brand to banners, socials to courses it all builds into one.

This is just a highlight reel of what I’ve created so far (hours and hours of work in 16 seconds) but excited to see this brand evolve further and wider.

There’s something quietly satisfying about seeing your work still doing its job four years later, especially when it’s on something a kid is proudly holding up.

Being a father is still one of the greatest things I've done in my life. Raising three boys comes with a fair amount of pressure, navigating so many curve balls that didn't even exist five years ago.

So incredibly grateful for the role models on whose shoulders I get to stand. Ian Moyle and Kevin Grant, and the fathers who guided them, Alan Moyle, Dean Phillips, Llyod Rees and Hamish Grant. Blessed doesn't cover it.

Keep loving, protecting and guiding your families in this crazy life we live.

Congratulations to the amazing team of volunteers kicking off the 2026 AAWHG Conference today in Sydney, running through to Thursday.

So many hours of effort with little or no recognition, as is the way with volunteers. All driven by a genuine love and understanding of how important their work is, raising awareness around wildlife management in aviation across Australia.

Proud to have contributed a small part on the visual side. Hope it's another success and continues to grow from strength to strength.

Personal projects make you a better designer. Here's why I know that.

The Wedgetail Aerospace concept I shared this week was purely self-initiated, no client, no brief, no deadline. Just a name that fascinated me and a brain that wouldn't let it go.
Branding is always my favourite work. But what really drew me into this one was the combination, birds and aviation precision. Two things I genuinely love, colliding in one project. That's rare with client work.

What surprised me most was watching how my brain connects words to symbols and shapes, finding the meaning inside the name and pulling it out into something visual. It's easy to forget you can do that when you're heads down in briefs and deadlines.

I wish I'd made more time for this kind of work earlier. Not for the portfolio. Not for the income, there isn't any. Purely for the growth and the love of it. Maybe especially because there's no financial incentive.

If you're a designer or creative who hasn't made something just for yourself in a while, do it.

Really enjoyed seeing people weigh in on the hoodie designs last week so keeping that going this week.

There are so many cool things that I love to capture but my favourite would have to be epic sunrise or an epic wave shot capturing a moment of time in light.
