Designer (first world problem rant) issues.

Usually I’m a slow app/OS updaterer for good reason. The bugs hopefully got sorted before I actually upgrade. Well stumbled on the latest Indesign fun. When I select a group of images and then go to drag them together it deselects them all and only drags the 1 image the mouse is over… soooo annoying.

My workaround so far is to hold shift before dragging and this seems to keep it together but just another unnecessary key to remember.

Any app software issues bugging you lately feel free to vent in the comments below?

It's done. For now.

My website has been through a few versions over the years — and I'll probably never be completely happy with it. That's just the nature of constantly learning and a technology landscape that never sits still.

This time I went back to basics. Leaned into old school print design thinking — keep it simple, make it meaningful. Clean layouts, clear hierarchy, work that speaks for itself.

I've focused on making it work well across devices, especially mobile, and I think I've got close. Closer than before at least.

It's showing a mix of new and old projects that I'm genuinely proud of. Have a look around and if you know anyone who needs design help — especially a new brand or logo — I'd love an introduction.

Certainly a different design from my usual minimal bold style... well maybe still bold.

Client had a unique system that was using new technology to better forecast wildlife movement in realtime. Very niche audience and they really liked the idea on incorporating the murmuration pattern into their brand (yeah I had to work out how to spell the word and then what it actually is (put simply the shape/pattern created by a large flock of birds [primarily starlings] in the sky). It really is amazing but how to show something so incredibly complex in a logo was certainly going to be a challenge.

After the sketching process I came up with three strong options that were then tweaked and refined into the final design. The design used blue for the base as it was targeting the aviation world but then highlighted with orange for the warning/danger element of the actual system. Client really loved the futuristic Orbitron font for all heading which was then complimented by Roboto for heavy text sections for easy reading. Then unfolded the fun process of how to apply it across all mediums sizes from mobile optimised website, powerpoint templates, business cards, letterhead to banners.

8 days to Safeskies 2026. Less than 4 months to the AAWHG Conference. Under a year to the next Wooden Boat Festival.

Three events I've had the pleasure of supporting across print and digital — and three very good reasons I have a new level of respect for the people who organise them.

The amount of effort, detail and sheer persistence it takes to pull an event together is something else. The work behind the scenes that nobody sees is extraordinary.

Here's to the organisers. Genuinely amazing people.

Had a blast (literally and figuratively) last weekend taking some shots of the local downhill comp so that's going my creative sharing for the day.

Love getting behind the camera playing with the settings see what happens especially with such fast subjects.
