A little WordPress tip...

One of the biggest risks I see on WordPress websites is outdated plugins.

I know updates can be easy to ignore (or a bit scary if you’ve had one break your site before!), but keeping your plugins up to date is one of the simplest things you can do to help keep your website secure.

The important part isn’t just clicking Update. It’s making sure there’s a backup first, and checking everything afterwards.

That’s exactly how I update my clients’ websites, so if something doesn’t quite go to plan, I can restore it and sort it out before it becomes a bigger issue.

Website maintenance is one of those jobs that’s easy to push to the bottom of the list... until something goes wrong.

I cannot tell you how many times I’ve Googled a local service, landed on a website, and had absolutely no idea if they’re even based in Adelaide.

No location in the header. Not in the footer. I’m clicking to the About page, the Contact page, and by that point? I’m gone. You’ve lost me as a client.

Here’s the one fix that takes less than 5 minutes 👇

1. Put your location in your footer — on every single page
Your footer is where people instinctively look for business basics. If you’re a local service provider, your city or suburb should be right there, every time. “Proudly serving Adelaide & surrounds” is all it takes to immediately answer the question every local visitor has.

✔️ Fix: Add a simple line of location text to your footer. In most WordPress themes, this is as easy as editing a text block or widget. Do it today.

2. It’s also a win for SEO
Google uses location mentions across your site to understand where you operate — and your footer counts. Consistent, readable location text (not an image — actual text Google can read) reinforces your local relevance and helps you show up when people search nearby.

✔️ Fix: Make sure your location text is actual HTML text, not an image or graphic.

One small change. Clearer for real people. Better for search engines. 🙌

Lately I’ve been working on something new behind the scenes… a WordPress SOS membership portal that I was genuinely really excited about.

But… I’ve made the decision to put it on hold for now.

Running a business (and doing it well) means knowing your limits. And if I’m honest, I’ve been feeling a bit burnt out trying to do everything at once.

Right now, my priority is making sure my current clients are getting the best of me, not what’s left over.

So instead of pushing through and risking that, I’m choosing to pause, reset, and focus on what matters most.

It doesn’t mean the idea is gone. I still love it, and I might absolutely come back to it in the future when the timing feels right.

But for now, this is me choosing balance, quality, and sustainability over doing more for the sake of it.

If you’ve been feeling the same lately, this is your reminder that it’s okay to step back too 💜
