Pure Public Relations PR for small and medium-sized businesses, charities and not-for-profits. http://www.purepublicrelati We focus on outcomes, not outputs – it’s pure and simple.

The size of a business or not-for-profit organisation should not determine the quality of advice, service, and results it receives. Pure Public Relations brings big business experience to small and medium-sized organisations, charities and not-for-profits (that think big). We understand small business, because we are one. And we understand charities and not-for-profits thanks to our experience as

volunteers and our regular pro bono work for charities. Pure Public Relations provides proactive media relations and issues management along with other communications services such as speech writing, profile building, customer case studies, online credibility, internal communication, social media, copywriting, stakeholder relations, blogging and reputation management. This page is operated by the founder of Pure Public Relations, Phoebe Netto, and her team.

The news cycle moves fast, but the smartest brands move faster – and that’s exactly where newsjacking becomes a powerful strategy.

We recently jumped on the widely shared story about Sydney’s abandoned 'ghost tower' – a $2.8 billion loss and a perfect example of what happens when major construction defects and compliance failures go unchecked. We worked quickly with our client, the Australian Institute of Building Surveyors (AIBS), to offer expert commentary that added clarity, authority and much-needed context to a story already capturing national attention.

By connecting a headline-grabbing issue to AIBS’s expertise, we positioned the organisation as the voice that explains why these situations happen and what needs to change to fix the sector-wide issue.

This is the value of timely, strategic input: it elevates the client from commentator to trusted authority, strengthens credibility, and ensures their message lands in the moments when audiences are already paying attention.

A 24-storey high-rise apartment block in Parramatta has turned into an eerie “ghost tower” after sitting empty for the past three years.

What do Australia’s smartest SMEs have in common? They don’t rely on guesswork – they rely on strategy.

Pure Public Relations’ founder, Phoebe Netto, judged two categories for the SmartCompany's 2025 Smart50 Awards, and the standout entries had one thing in common: disciplined, measurable decision-making.

Michupet Supplies took home the Marketing Award, proving that consistent, strategic marketing beats sporadic presence every time. Rather than using social media as a platform to merely promote its products, Michu has established a feedback loop that shapes product design, drives sales, and keeps customers coming back.

This year’s People Power winners, Equality Media + Marketing, prove that a four-day workweek with full pay isn’t a gimmick when it’s tested, measured, and continually refined. Equality showed that when measured and approached with honesty and transparency, investing in people moves beyond an idealistic concept and becomes powerful strategy for commercial and cultural growth.

The key takeaway from this year’s awards is this: The smartest businesses don’t just innovate; they measure how their innovations work.

What do you think of these two impressive approaches to marketing and culture? Let us know in the comments!

The most effective media stories don’t just share success, they show the expertise behind it.

When Dylan Winik joined Nayax Australia, the global fintech company was just beginning its journey on this side of the world. Drawing on his entrepreneurial background, he helped grow it from a two-person team into a leading provider of cashless payment solutions across Australia and New Zealand.

Our approach for this story in Azzet Australia was to position Dylan as a leader and expert in the fintech space, showcasing his journey from entrepreneur to the driving force behind Nayax’s impressive growth in Australia and New Zealand.

This feature explores how Dylan’s leadership as CEO of Oceania and customer-first philosophy have helped Nayax capture 11% of the company’s global revenue, and how Australia is leading the world in cashless adoption.

By spotlighting both the business and the person behind it, this coverage shows how innovation, persistence and purpose continue to shape Australia’s fintech landscape.

Every purpose-driven organisation has a story that started it all.

For our client, MissingSchool CEO Megan Gilmour, it was when her son became seriously ill and her family spent 18 months living on a cancer ward. It was an experience that revealed just how easily children can lose not only access to learning, but also their connection to school life and community.

That realisation became the starting point for MissingSchool, which now helps sick and isolated children stay connected to their education.

We’re proud to see Megan and her daughter Mia featured in The Sydney Morning Herald’s 'Two of Us' series, where they share the challenging journey they've been through and how it ultimately made their relationship stronger.

By telling their story with honesty and heart, this feature helped show how MissingSchool’s mission grew from lived experience and why it continues to matter to families across Australia. Because when a child is unwell, the impact extends to the whole family, including siblings who may experience ‘survivor’s guilt’, just like Mia once did.

A narrowly averted family tragedy nearly broke the bond between Megan Gilmour, the co-founder of a not-for-profit, and her daughter, Mia, a yoga teacher.

Do you ever wonder how the details of celebrity divorces make their way to the media?

In the wake of a media frenzy surrounding Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban's divorce, Pure founder Phoebe Netto spoke with The West Australian about the PR tactics behind stories like these – and why the public cares so much to click on them.

As Phoebe told Kate Emery, positioning is everything when it comes to high-profile break-ups. In the case of Kidman and Urban, each of their respective PR teams will be working overtime to preserve their client's reputation, empathy and credibility in the media – and that's how we end up with so many stories.

As for why we care so much, Phoebe explained that "it’s less about Nicole and Keith or Hugh and Deborra-Lee, and more about us. We use their story as a canvas to replay our own relationships, disappointments, and biases.”

So why should you care about this as a business owner? Because the same principles apply to anyone under public scrutiny, from business leaders to politicians and even brands. When a personal or organisational 'split' plays out publicly, the way you communicate dictates the narrative that will be told about you – not just in the media, but in the minds of people who are trying to make sense of your story by applying it to their own lives.

The ink on Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban’s ’s divorce paperwork is now dry, which means if you are not yet across the minutiae of this Hollywood break-up you are behind.

Will you be future-proofing your business at the SecureIT 2025 conference in Perth next month?

If you are, don't miss Pure founder Phoebe Netto's presentation on how to communicate through a crisis.

Phoebe’s session will dive into one of the most urgent challenges facing organisations today: how to respond when disruption hits. Whether it’s a cyberattack, system outage, or data breach, the way you communicate can determine whether you protect trust or lose it.

SecureIT25, hosted by ISACA Perth Chapter, is the leading annual event for future-proofing businesses, and this year’s theme covers everything from crisis management in the AI age to defending against deepfakes, building resilience frameworks, and strengthening decision-making under pressure.
