EOI: remote, flexible part time work available. Ag Storytelling.

Do you have a livestock or ag background and a natural way with words? This role could be worth exploring.

Mallee Marketing is looking for someone who can easily chat with farmers/producers over the phone, help them feel comfortable and draw out their stories, and then turn them into great content for our ag and stud clients.

Experience in stud stock, genetics or commercial livestock is highly desirable because we are a niche business.

You’ll need reasonably good comms skills, self-motivation, reliable internet and the ability to work independently.

Training available but the rural knowledge and writing flair needs to be yours (not just ChatGPT!) we’re very centred around human-generated content with AI tools just supporting research and optimisation if needed.

This role would suit someone needing flexibility around family life or looking to scale back from physical work into a flexible part time office role.

Looking for someone to start in June for 12 hours/week ongoing to grow into more hours for the right person. We need a reliable and consistent person in this role.

References and samples of work will be required.

Competitive hourly remuneration rates + super on offer depending on your experience and background.

If you’d like more information about the role please email Tegan: [email protected]

Grateful for the opportunity to share a few thoughts with Natasha Lobban, AuctionsPlus and also present at the Herefords Australia Breed Forum during the Herefords Australia National Show and Sale - Wodonga earlier this month.

My presentation centred around something we care deeply about here at Mallee Marketing.

We are big advocates for encouraging and supporting more producers and studs to proactively share their own stories, experiences and lessons from behind the farm gate, rather than leaving the narrative to others.

Good storytelling in agriculture doesn’t need to be loud and bold or full of hype.

You can be considerate and humble.
From a marketing perspective sharing more will help build trust, strengthen brand identity, advocate for your breed and help to create stronger connections right across the supply chain.

A real highlight during my presentation was finishing the session by hosting a panel discussion with Hereford breeders, Marnie Robinson, from Maple Stone Ridge, Tom Nixon Devon Court Herefords, and Deanne Sykes, Mawarra Genetics, who were brave enough to share their experiences around the opportunities that can come from putting yourself out there and finding the confidence to share your story in an industry where tall poppy syndrome can sometimes make that difficult.

Thank you so much Marnie, Tom and Deanne!

It was a great day and I felt privileged to be able to present alongside speakers from Zoetis, rma network, Woolworths, Meat & Livestock Australia, and NEOGEN.

WEBINAR
"The Future of Stud Stock & Rural Marketing"
Tomorrow, Friday 23 January, 2pm AEDT

Over the past few years, we’ve noticed a real shift in how buyers engage with studs and rural brands.
What builds confidence has changed.
What influences buying decisions has changed.

And a lot of the marketing and advertising that used to work… just doesn’t cut through the way it once did.

This live webinar is a chance to step back from the day-to-day and look at the bigger picture.

Tegan will be unpacking things like:
- How marketing actually fits into long sales cycles
- Why marketing often feels rushed, last-minute or unclear, and how to fix that
- What progressive studs are doing differently to build demand before sale day
- How buyers really make decisions in high-risk, high-investment purchases
- How to build confidence and demand without adding more workload to your plate

This webinar is designed for stud principals and rural business owners who want marketing clarity through simple, down-to-earth principles and processes.

It’s also a relaxed, welcoming space to listen, learn, ask questions, and think a little differently about your marketing.

We’re thinking of everyone affected by the heavy rainfall and floods.

These are moving words.
Thanks for sharing Warren.

One of the hardest conversations I had in 2025 didn’t happen on a stage or behind a microphone.
It happened in the front seat of this Landcruiser ute.

For two and a half hours we drove through the Channel Country in central Queensland. Flat country. Big skies.

Silence that says more than words ever could.

Driving that ute beside me was a station owner who had lost half his herd of 6000 in the February floods.

Half.

Not numbers on a page. Not a line in a report.
Livelihood. Legacy. Years of work. Breeding lines. Hope.

Gone.

There were long stretches where neither of us spoke. Where He fought back tears.
And then moments where the words came out heavy, tangled, unfinished.

"How do you rebuild from this?"
"How do I pay the creditors?"
"What if it happens again?"

Those conversations don’t have neat answers. They don’t always wrap up well. They sit with you. They stay heavy long after the ute is parked back in the shed.

And now, here we are again.
Northern Queensland pastoralists staring down the same reality. Watching the weather. Watching the rivers. Feeling that familiar tightening that here we go again feeling that so many communities know too well.

This is the part of disaster we don’t talk about enough.
The mental load.
The grief that doesn’t always look like grief.
The strength people show simply by getting up and doing the next hard thing.

If you’re living this right now, please know this you’re not weak for feeling exhausted, angry, numb or overwhelmed. You’re human.

These conversations matter. Presence matters. Checking in matters, not just during the headlines, but long after they fade.

I’ll keep showing up.
I’ll keep having the hard conversations.

Because capacity isn’t built in crisis it’s built when we sit beside each other, when we hold space, when we demonstrate genuine care.

Take care.
