Good news and bad news for modern candlemakers 🔥
As small business owners, we know ALL too well, that there's been -rapid- growth in the ecommerce space
which means
we need to stay up to date on the best ways to operate.
There is so much information out there, that it can become overwhelming.
Whether you are a new candlemaker (you're so welcome here!),
or a seasoned expert (hey honey! 👋),
I’m sure you will have noticed just how much the industry has evolved recently.
The good news? 😍
With the ease of access to supplies, candlemakers can enjoy working with modern waxes with greater capabilities, hundreds (maybe thousands?) of fragrances from many different sellers from all locations and a growing selection of glassware, vessels and molds.
You have the best access to e-commerce tools at your fingerprints and the opportunity to ship world-wide.
It has never been a better time to make candles and take advantage of the access to products on offer.
The bad news? 🫤
Competition in the candle market is high, with many people starting out new candle businesses too!
A lot of people throw around the term "saturated market", but this gives negative connotations to something you can take advantage of!
More candle businesses mean candles are -everywhere- which is a great thing as it keeps the product top of mind for your buyers AND candles are only becoming more popular with shoppers (for gifts and a little self-shopped luxury) 🛒
Many candle businesses
- gives weight to the industry and product
- has created a need for it amongst buyers
- PLUS it pushes businesses to be innovative and create a product that stands out.
In this type of market, with lots of buyers, you need to find YOUR point of difference and find new ways to craft your brand -and- market your product.
So yeah, pros and cons BUT there is still plenty of potential to grow a business that loves you -if- you go in with a strategy that sets you apart.
