Have you ever thought about what the body language in your photos is saying.
I believe that the number 1 purpose of photos in business is to connect with your audience so they like and trust you and want to buy what you are selling.
Imagine you shared a photo of you and your objective is to show credibility and your openness to work with your audience, to begin to build trust.
Do you think it is better to share a photos of you for this purpose with your arms crossed and smiling? Or Arms wide open and smiling?
When we cross our arms in photos we inadvertently saying we are protecting ourselves, we feel may feel insecure and possibly are closed to connection. This isn't just something I am saying this is how our brain reads it, it's programmed into our brains, like seriously goes back to the middle ages and our brain reads this is seconds. This has been well documented in real life but is rarely talked about in photos... surely this is important when we live in such a digital world?!
When I see photos of powerful people with their arms crossed this is confusing and creates a disconnect you may bot recognise this straight up but you may have a feeling of something.
Sure they may be wanting comfort from crossing their arms, they may be feeling scared, or defensive or maybe they think it looks powerful and have been posed like that by their photographer because see us photographers love continuity and haven't always learnt about body language.
I believe before we create photos we need to look at what our purpose is, what energy we want to show and what body language we want to exhibit.
