Many agencies stop at “the ads are performing well”, but clicks and leads only matter if they’re turning into real business growth.

When this service-based client came to us for Google Ads Management, we didn’t jump straight into launching campaigns.

We started with a full audit of their Google Ads account, conversion tracking, landing pages and overall customer journey to identify where opportunities and leaks existed.

From campaign restructure and keyword refinement, through to tracking setup and landing page recommendations, every decision was made with one goal in mind: generating higher quality leads, not just more of them.

Previously, the account structure lacked clarity, with branded keywords leaking into results. This meant a large portion of ad spend was going towards people already searching for the business anyway.

On top of that, their primary conversion goal was tracking page views, making it difficult to understand what was actually driving revenue.

They had no clear visibility over what was and wasn’t working or whether Google Ads were genuinely moving the needle in the business.

After implementing our changes, in one month we’ve seen:
→ $21k+ in closed contracts
→ 17x ROAS
→ ~$62 cost per lead
→ Average client value of ~$2k
→ Proper tracking and lead reporting finally in place

With insights now into what is working, we’ve been optimising and scaling the campaigns that are driving the highest value clients.

Paid ads work best when they’re part of a bigger strategy, not treated like a quick fix. That’s the difference between simply running ads and building an account designed to convert.

Which should you invest in first? Google or Meta Ads...

We are big believers in both platforms complementing each other well. However, we understand not all brands have budget to invest in both.

So in these cases, it really comes down to one question: does your audience already know they’re looking for you?

If you’re a law firm, chances are someone needs you right now and they’re heading straight to Google to find you. The search intent is high and Google Ads is built for that.

But let’s say you’re a fashion brand. Meta Ads are a great way to get in front of someone who didn’t know they needed a polkadot dress until they scrolled past your ad. Add on Google Shopping ads and you can get your products in front of people who already know polkadots are trending!

Think like a consumer for a second. You go to Facebook or Instagram to mindlessly scroll, so ads often feel interruptive. But if you’re searching on Google, you’re much happier to get shown an ad that is relevant to your search.

Google harnesses people who are actively searching then and there, and Meta builds awareness with people who aren’t (but could be your next customer).

Both have their place, but where you start depends on your product or service, your budget and the mindset of your audience at the time.

It started as 1:1 Meta Ads training back in 2021 when the brand was doing $30k months. Fast forward to now and hope&plum are averaging $500k months, continue to build an incredible community online, are moving into their new warehouse soon, and have recently hit their first 7-figure month.
