SHARING MY THOUGHTS 🤔💭
Finding this on the path to my backyard stopped me in my tracks today.
A full snake skin. Right there where the dogs run every afternoon.
My first feeling? Pure fear.
Lenny and Harry are always out exploring, sniffing every corner of the yard and chasing each other without a care in the world. The thought that a snake could be sharing their space made my stomach drop. You instantly go into protective mode as a dog mum. Every rustle in the grass suddenly feels louder.
But after the initial panic settled, I really looked at it.
It wasn’t a snake. It was what had been left behind.
A shedding.
And that changed my thinking a little.
Yes, on a practical level it means we likely have (or had) a snake in the yard — which calls for awareness, caution and respect for nature. But symbolically? I found out that a snake’s skin carries a completely different energy.
As snakes grow, they shed their skin, revealing a refreshed and brighter surface. This process often serves as a powerful metaphor for recovery from illness or emotional upset.
Across so many cultures, snakes represent healing, protection and transformation. Renewal. Rebirth. A quiet kind of power.
So I’m choosing to see this as more than just a moment of fear.
Maybe it’s a reminder that growth can feel uncomfortable.
Maybe it’s a sign that something old can be stripped back to be new again.
Maybe it’s protection — a quiet guardian energy watching over this space.
Could the snake sign actually be a sacred sign?
A nudge about what’s coming next, especially as we have now ended the Year of the Snake and have galloped into the Year of the Horse?
I’m holding both realities at once — being mindful and protective of my boys while also open to the symbolism of renewal and change.
Funny how something that first sparked full body fear can end up feeling like a message for the soul. ✨
