Sorry Princess - but it turns out, there is no truly elegant way to film a cow from behind 😳

Last week we sent our favourite conversationalist off (in her best pressed shirt and polished boots) to the great theatre of the where dreams are made and Dagwood dogs consumed with joyful (risky) abandon.

I don’t know anyone who can strike up a yarn better than Ella.

With a big smile and steely determination- she wrangled her way backstage and managed to interview showmen, stockmen and a few other fab characters who summed up everything they love about this iconic event.

And bonus points for keeping a straight face as mid-interview, the camera framed up what can only be described as an intimate portrait of Princess, beloved champion cow and rising star of the bovine world.

Love your commentary and commitment Ella. Till next year 👋 🇦🇺🐄❤️

We are on the look-out for influencers 😍
(micro and maxo) around Armidale, Tamworth down to Scone and extending out to Port Macquarie ⛱️

Any reccos would be GREATLY appreciated for a wholesome and non-cringey client campaign coming up in July 🙏

Popping on the grid as would love any recommendations or advice re: branded merch and where to source 🙏

‘We’re not all toothless farmers waiting for the drought to break’…

Who could ever forget that headline accompanying an SMH interview with Annabelle Hickson on smashing rural stereotypes and why she started .press - a beautiful print publication - in the midst of the pandemic.

Now she’s launched a $25,000 regional photography prize in the spirit of highlighting and heroing bush creatives.

There’s also $2.5k prize for Year 11 & 12 students - which as Scotty would say “is better than a poke in the eye with a burnt stick” 💁‍♀️

This is going to be a tough gig to judge - but with Uber-renowned photographer at the helm, she’s in good hands.

By my rough calculations there are about 21 days to submit your photos so if you want to tag, share or spread the love Annabelle and the Galah crew would be thrilled.

I’ve kicked off with a few of my faves (Insta would only let include 10 😬) but hopefully you get the gist xx

'Verve is kinda like the Robin Hood of the super world'. Love that whimn are featuring regional changemakers like local Wagga gal Lamont. Thanks to Eliza Cracknell for sharing Zoe's story and highlighting some of the alarming stats around women and super including that the fact that one in three retired women don’t have super at all..://

Zoe Lamont is the co-founder superannuation fund Verve, which dedicates 100% of its resources and passion to building the wealth and financial power of women everywhere.

So much has changed since the Getaway team headed west to interview Grace Brennan, founder of Buyfromthebush to give some perspective about how the drought was hitting the bottom line and morale of some of our most drought-affected regions. Now we (as a global collective) find ourselves battling the uncertainty and stress that COVID is unleashing, but the message is still the same, there has never been a more important time to support small business and your community - wherever that may be. Tune into Channel 9 tonight at 5.30pm https://www.facebook.com/Getaway/
