The one sector we've cried most for during the lockdowns, its hospitality. Melbourne's vibrant, world class, passionate food scene has been decimated and may never recover. And 'they' - those who clearly don't get it, must never have fully experienced it, and who clearly don't understand what it takes to create it, have killed it.
IT IS UNFORGIVABLE.
Pictured is Di Stasio Citta located on Spring St, a relatively new addition to an iconic Melbourne institution, and we think they say it best... CULTURE NOT FEAR
Melbourne food, is Melbourne culture. And when we can, as soon as we can, we should all run as fast as we can, to support Melbourne restaurants, cafe's, bars and venues.
But, and there is a but, we need to be patient and supportive. We need to understand that to staff, stock and service small, socially distanced amounts of people is bloody difficult and some venues may choose to wait until they can operate properly, before they are prepared to open again.
And while this Government flits like a honeyeater from date to date, dangling re-opening like its a Christmas bauble - feeding and serving people well, takes time and planning, and can't be turned on and off with the flick of a wrist.
Rant over, if you're still reading, today's song is 'Last Saturday Night' by Chris Wilson, another stellar Melbourne talent and ripping song. If you ever saw Chris live, consider yourself one of the lucky ones.
