You’re eating better. The number on the scale is going down. You’re feeling healthier.

Then suddenly… your hair starts shedding.

What many women don’t realize is that significant weight loss, whether from dieting, bariatric surgery, or weight loss medications, can sometimes trigger temporary hair loss.

Rapid weight loss can put stress on the body and may lead to nutritional deficiencies, including low iron or vitamin D, which are important for healthy hair growth.

The good news? Hair loss after weight loss doesn’t mean you've done something wrong. It simply means your body may need additional support.

If you're noticing increased shedding, don't ignore it and don't assume it's "just part of getting older." A proper assessment can help uncover what's really going on.

Have you ever experienced changes in your hair after a major health or lifestyle change?

“Your itchy scalp might be a result of yeast overgrowth and not dryness.”

If you're dealing with an itchy scalp, it's easy to assume you just need more moisture.

But according to Dr. Rachel Kay, the cause may not be dryness alone.

In some cases, an imbalance in the scalp microbiome can lead to irritation, itching, and even flaking. Adding more oils or heavy products may feel like the logical solution, but sometimes it can make the problem worse by trapping the underlying issue against the scalp.

That's why understanding *why* your scalp is itchy matters just as much as treating the symptom.

On June 18, I'm teaching a masterclass for Dr. Jessica Drummond's Integrative Women's Health Institute members.

The Patient Journey Gap — how women's health practitioners can stop losing patients between sessions.

What we're covering:

— the three silent drop-off points in every women's health practice
— what a designed between-visit experience looks like, touchpoint by touchpoint
— why "marketing fixes" don't solve journey problems

For the IWHI practitioners I'll be with on the 18th — see you there.

For everyone else — frameworks coming publicly over the next few weeks.

Save and follow if patient retention is on your mind.

“Unlike the postpartum hair fall, this is gradual, and the hormones don't change overnight.”

One of the reasons menopausal hair loss can be so difficult to recognize is that it often doesn't happen all at once.

You may not notice clumps of hair falling out. Instead, the changes can be subtle:

• Your part line looks a little wider
• Your hair feels thinner than it used to
• Styling takes more effort
• The same hairstyle doesn't hold the way it once did

Because these changes happen gradually, many women dismiss them as aging or assume they're imagining it.

But if something feels different, pay attention.

You know your hair better than anyone else. And the earlier you seek help, the sooner you can understand what's causing the change and explore your options.

What if the reason you haven't been consistent isn't a lack of discipline?

What if your goals are simply too big?

So many women believe they need to:
✔️ Work out 45 minutes a day
✔️ Meal prep every week
✔️ Meditate for 20 minutes
✔️ Change everything overnight

And when life gets busy, they stop.

But sustainable change doesn't start with big promises.

It starts with something so small you can't talk yourself out of it.

A two-minute walk.
A few stretches.
A moment to breathe.

Small actions may not feel impressive, but they're what create lasting habits.

The goal is to build something you can do for years.

"If we do it for ourselves, we're gonna recognize how good it feels and we're gonna wanna do it more."

So much of wellness becomes difficult when it's driven by pressure.

Pressure to look a certain way.
Pressure to keep up.
Pressure to meet someone else's expectations.

But when you care for yourself because you value yourself, everything changes.

The motivation becomes internal.
The habits become sustainable.
The journey becomes gentler.

Do it for you.

The results will follow. 💛

If your body feels like it's fighting you, it might actually be fighting for you.

When you're under chronic stress, your body shifts into survival mode.

Digestion slows down.
Metabolism becomes less efficient.
Cravings increase.
Cortisol rises.

Your body isn't trying to sabotage you.

It's responding exactly the way it was designed to when it believes there's danger.

The problem is that for many women today, the "lion" isn't a wild animal.

It's burnout.
Financial pressure.
Caregiving responsibilities.
Work stress.
Mental overload.

And when we're living in survival mode, health becomes about so much more than calories in and calories out.

The body and mind are connected.

Real wellness means nourishing both.

Because lasting health isn't just about what you eat.
It's also about what you're carrying.

"Your cortisol is not meant to be on that high level like a lion is chasing you all the time around the clock."

Your body was designed to handle stress.

It was not designed to live there.

A burst of cortisol can help you react, focus, and survive a threat.

But for many women today, the threat never seems to leave.

The deadlines.
The caregiving.
The financial pressure.
The mental load.
The constant notifications.
The worries that follow us to bed.

When your body stays in survival mode for too long, it starts paying a price.

Brain fog.
Poor sleep.
Weight gain.
Low energy.
Difficulty healing.

Sometimes, the most important thing you can do for your health isn't pushing harder.

It's creating moments of safety.

Moments to breathe.
Moments to rest.

Because wellness isn't just about nutrition and exercise.

It's also about teaching your nervous system that it's okay to come out of survival mode.

💛 What helps you slow down when life feels overwhelming?

02/06/2026

One cookie doesn't undo your progress.

One missed workout doesn't erase your efforts.

One imperfect day doesn't mean you've failed.

So many women approach wellness with an all-or-nothing mindset: "I slipped up, so I might as well give up."

But sustainable health isn't built on perfection. It's built on consistency, self-compassion, and getting back up when life happens.

The goal isn't to eat perfectly.
The goal is to build habits you can actually live with.
