Your Google Ads CTR can be great but your leads can still be terrible.

Here’s something I see quite often with local businesses, especially plumbing companies.
You create a strong Google Ad.
People see it.
They click it.
Your CTR looks good.
But then… nothing happens.
No calls.
No quote requests.
No leads.
So what’s the problem?
Sometimes, it’s not the Google Ads campaign.
It’s the landing page.
Think about the customer journey:
Google Search → Ad → Click → Landing Page → Call/Quote → Lead
If the landing page doesn’t match the ad, the visitor can leave within seconds.
For a plumbing business, your landing page should make it immediately clear:
→ What service you provide
→ What area you serve
→ Why they should trust you
→ What they should do next
→ How they can contact you
And most importantly, there should be a clear CTA such as:
“Call Now”
“Get a Free Quote”
“Book a Plumber Today”
A high CTR tells you that your ad is getting attention.
But CTR alone doesn’t generate revenue.
You need to look at the complete funnel:
CTR → Landing Page → Conversion Rate → Cost Per Lead → Lead Quality
I created a simple Bad vs Good Google Ads Landing Page example for a plumbing business to show exactly what I mean.
📄 I’ve added it below.
