𝐀𝐫𝐞 𝐈𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐚𝐧 𝐟𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐛𝐞𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐧 𝐁𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐥𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐬𝐡𝐢 𝐟𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐫𝐬? ⁉️
This is a common question among clients and freelancers. Both countries have many talented freelancers, but there are some differences in their performance and earnings.
𝐀𝐜𝐜𝐨𝐫𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐨 𝐏𝐚𝐲𝐨𝐧𝐞𝐞𝐫'𝐬 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟐 𝐆𝐥𝐨𝐛𝐚𝐥 𝐅𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐫 𝐈𝐧𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐞 𝐑𝐞𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭, Indian freelancers earn $𝟐𝟖 𝐩𝐞𝐫 𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐨𝐧 𝐚𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐠𝐞, while Bangladeshi freelancers earn $𝟏𝟗 𝐩𝐞𝐫 𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐨𝐧 𝐚𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐠𝐞. This is a 47% difference.
𝐖𝐡𝐲 𝐢𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐬𝐨?
One reason is the demand and supply of freelance services in each country. 𝐈𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐚 𝐡𝐚𝐬 𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝟏𝟓 𝐦𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐟𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐫𝐬, 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐦𝐨𝐬𝐭 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐥𝐝. 𝐁𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐥𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐬𝐡 𝐡𝐚𝐬 𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝟔𝟓𝟎,𝟎𝟎𝟎 𝐟𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐫𝐬, 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐬𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐝-𝐦𝐨𝐬𝐭 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐥𝐝. This means that India has a more competitive and diverse freelance market, which may improve the quality and rates of its freelancers.
Another reason is the skills and specialties of freelancers in each country. 𝐀𝐜𝐜𝐨𝐫𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐨 𝐔𝐩𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤’𝐬 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟑 𝐆𝐥𝐨𝐛𝐚𝐥 𝐅𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐫 𝐈𝐧𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐞 , India ranks high in fields such as programming, marketing, and finance, which are high-paying and high-demand. India also has a large number of freelancers with skills in natural language processing, computer vision, and predictive analytics, which are among the most in-demand freelance skills for 2023.
𝐁𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐥𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐬𝐡 𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐤𝐬 𝐡𝐢𝐠𝐡 𝐢𝐧 𝐟𝐢𝐞𝐥𝐝𝐬 𝐬𝐮𝐜𝐡 𝐚𝐬 𝐬𝐚𝐥𝐞𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐤𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐬𝐮𝐩𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭, 𝐰𝐡𝐢𝐜𝐡 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐥𝐨𝐰-𝐩𝐚𝐲𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐥𝐨𝐰-𝐝𝐞𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐝. However, Bangladesh also has some freelancers with skills in web development, graphic design, and data entry, which are also popular and profitable freelance skills. That means in Bangladesh, we don't have a sufficient number of skilled freelancers in programming, web development, machine learning, and artificial intelligence sectors. This is true, and we are well aware that it's a rather unfortunate situation for us.
However, these are not the only factors that matter. Other factors such as education, experience, language proficiency, client feedback, and personal preferences may also affect the performance and earnings of freelancers. Therefore, it is not fair to say that Indian freelancers are better than Bangladeshi freelancers in general. It depends on the specific needs and expectations of each client and freelancer.
If you are a client looking for a freelancer, you should compare the skills, rates, reviews, and portfolios of each freelancer before hiring. If you are a freelancer looking for work, you should consider the demand, competition, and opportunities of each market before choosing a niche. No matter where you are from or what you do, you can succeed as a freelancer with hard work, dedication, and passion.
