Rohingya Lens
11 July 2026

Myanmar's Minister for Immigration and Population, U Myint Kyaing, met with Bangladesh Ambassador to Myanmar Dr. Mohammad Monwar Hossain in Naypyidaw on July 9 to discuss strengthening cooperation on immigration procedures and the repatriation of displaced persons from Rakhine State.

The meeting focused on visa-related matters, the status of border crossing points, and ongoing government-to-government efforts to facilitate the voluntary return of displaced Rohingya. Both sides also exchanged views on the verification process for repatriation lists submitted by Bangladesh, with Myanmar highlighting challenges related to incomplete documentation and emphasizing the need for accurate and comprehensive information to support the verification process.

Crime Report
Date: 9 July 2026

According to local resources, a husband slaughtered his wife and his two own children in a horrific incident that has shocked the entire Rohingya community.

Therefore, I respectfully request the Bangladesh Government to take immediate legal action against the accused and sentence him to life imprisonment according to the law.

I also request the Bangladesh Government to take strong action against ARSA criminals because many people in our community believe their violence and criminal activities have negatively influenced the security situation in the camps. Before this, we had never witnessed such brutal killings committed by our own people in the Rohingya community.

We urge the authorities to ensure justice for the victims and strengthen security so that innocent Rohingya refugees can live in peace and safety.
