đ Scott Farquhar: A Technology Success Story
(For Students of Masua I.T Institute)
Scott Farquhar is one of Australiaâs most successful technology entrepreneurs and a great inspiration for IT students around the world.
He was born in Sydney, Australia, and studied Information Technology at the University of New South Wales. Like many students, Scott did not come from a rich background or have powerful connections. What he had was a clear dream, strong discipline, and belief in his skills.
While still at university, Scott and his friend Mike Cannon-Brookes decided they did not want to follow the traditional job path. Instead, in 2002, they started a small software company called Atlassian from their bedroom.
At the beginning, they had very little money. They even used credit cards to support their startup. There were many risks and challenges. But they focused on creating useful software for teams and businesses. Their products, such as Jira and Confluence, slowly became popular.
Years of hard work paid off.
In 2015, Atlassian became a public company on the NASDAQ stock exchange. The company was valued at billions of dollars, and Scott Farquhar became one of Australiaâs first technology billionaires.
But Scott did not stop there.
He believes success is not only about money. He helped start Pledge 1%, encouraging companies to give 1% of their profits, products, or time to help society. Today, thousands of companies around the world follow this idea.
Later, Scott stepped down from daily leadership at Atlassian to spend more time with family and support young entrepreneurs through investment and mentoring.
