Meta just shipped one-click CAPI setup last week.
No code. No developer. No GTM. No Stape.
Sounds amazing — until you check Event Match Quality.
Every account I've migrated to the one-click version in the last 14 days has plateaued at EMQ 5.8–6.4. That's the same ceiling Shopify's native Meta channel has had for two years.
The difference: now you THINK your CAPI is properly installed. So you stop looking.
Meanwhile your campaigns are silently under-attributing 18–22% of conversions. Your reported ROAS drops. You assume the ads are tired. You change creatives. You raise budgets. You blame the algorithm.
None of it is the problem. The problem is the tracking Meta just told you was "fixed."
Real fix: GTM Server-Side + Stape. Costs $20/mo. Takes 90 minutes once. Gets you to EMQ 8.4+ and recovers the conversions Meta's "easy" version can't see.
The trade-off isn't whether to install CAPI. It's whether you want the version that surfaces the truth, or the version that hides it.
If you're already running the one-click CAPI — open Events Manager → your dataset → Overview → check EMQ. If it's under 7, your reported ROAS is lying to you. Drop a comment "EMQ" below and I'll DM you the migration checklist.
