Today's interview wasn't in a conference room, It was a high-speed hackathon in a cafe!
As a young agency, we believe interviews should feel like something you want to be part of; not something you survive. That's why we tried something different for our marketing intern hiring this time.
We asked everyone to meet at a café. Grab coffee. Sit down. Just talk.
For the first few minutes, it was nothing but casual conversation. No questions from a script. No pressure. Just people getting comfortable with each other.
Then we asked them to pick a team lead from among themselves. We gave them a real business, told them to dig into the problems, come up with solutions, and capture their journey in a reel. A mini hackathon; over coffee.
We weren't judging the solutions. We were watching how they researched, how they communicated, which tools they reached for, and how they explained their thinking. You can't see any of that in a traditional interview.
And they enjoyed it. Some of them said it didn't even feel like an interview.
That's exactly what we wanted. Because the right person for Squidx isn't the one with the best rehearsed answers. It's the one who feels like they already belong before they even join.
These small experiments shape how we hire and build.
